Went with Callies in my engine, just my preference and what the engine builder had on hand.

Making headway on the engine. Rotating assembly is ready to go. Went with BTR 4” crank, BTR 6.125” rod, and Wiseco Pro -3cc piston (dome piston but valve reliefs cause it to be - instead of +). Debating on lifter now. Either Johnson 2110R or ST2116LSR. I’m going to rev this thing out a little further now. Probably 7500. Spring recommendations from GPI are the PSI1513ML. Cam is still the GPI SS416 cam. 242/258 duration

Does anyone have feedback on the BTR shaft rocker? I know COMP has their BSR version but BTR is half the price (not a huge deal but been weary of COMP due to their QC issues last couple years but GPI said their shaft rocker is solid piece).

Remainder of combo will be a 6L80/90e trans with 5000 Circle D converter. Holley hi ram to match. Any feedback is apppreciated. First LS build from scratch.

Still debating on head porting. As much as I’d like to go aftermarket casting I’m going to either leave these stock or CNC port. Goal is ~530-550 whp range and 500+ rwtq. Single cab weekend truck

The main difference is that you have to assemble the BTR shaft rockers. It comes down to how much your time is worth.

Default Stronger Spark = Less Spark Advance

Hi DFB, I would add some of MY IGN-1A Ignition Coils to the engine.
I would use a "flat top" piston with a low Squish Distance.
A strong spark will allow a SPG of .046" and lower ignition advance.

I would go with the Johnson lifters with the .093 total travel and the preload in the .025 to .045 range. It gives you some flexibility in adjusting without a real sacrifice in performance. Unless you want 6 different pushrod lengths.

Settled on the 2116LSR’s. As far as measuring I’m going to take everything to machine shop and have them assemble and measure. Pretty much only thing left to order before taking it to engine shop is shaft rocker and camshaft.

My heads are currently freshened up with LS3 stock springs installed. If I left these springs on when measuring pushrod length will it mess with end results much compared to the PSI 1513ML springs that will be ran? I’m not worried about changing the springs later. That’s easy enough.

Anyone able to show me some threads/sections of people with FED Stage 1 port for 821/823? Leaning hard towards this route. Stout numbers and .700 spring kit for the pricing. I was originally going to go stock non ported head but I’d rather “overbuild” this the first time instead of wondering how much power is left on the table.
