Default bad 5.3l, AFM deleted, what next?

HI, new to forum and have a 2009 Silverado with AFM deleted 5.3L. Previous owner had delete kit installed with new cam, regular lifters and ECM programed. The engine is getting tired at 240,000 miles . What 5.3l. engine should I use to replace mine. should I get a used Gen IV and do the delete all over again or can I get a pre AFM engine and just run it with the ECM I have? not sure what is the most cost effective way to go about this. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

In what way is it "tired"?

Wouldn't be too tough to slap bearings in it and get the heads freshened up. The rings hardly ever wear out in these things.

Ok thanks, engine doesnt burn much oil have the dreaded lifter tick that i havent been able to get rid of, but it runs fairly well. Maybe a refresh is all i need.
