Default Reuse stock LS7 lifters......

I have an interesting (to me, & maybe others) question. I have 50,000 miles on my LS7 lifters. All seems fine. I'm on a budget due to needing new heads. Of course, new trays are a given. But, seeing as my lifters are fine, I'm torn between replacing and reusing. Buying 16 new lifters isnt real expensive, but it isnt as cheap as it once was, either. If I go with new I run the risk of getting a defective lifter, which is one problem I dont have at the moment. On the other hand, there is cycle life. Mine have been in for 50,000 miles. Am I pushing my luck reusing them? What do you guys think? What would you do? Please, no knocking using LS7 lifters, and comments like I should've never used them to begin with, as they've worked well for me....so far. TIA...

I don't think using them is an issue for a stock engine but for a performance engine I'm tossing the plastic trays and getting link bar style lifters.

What's your go to link bar lifters?? I'm currently using a set of zzperformance lifters in my engine without issue but can't help but think that if something was to go it's gonna be the lifters. They've been really quiet and I shift at 7000 rpm and pushing 17#

If it's a budget issue, reuse them. However, new heads means new pushrods, so do you want to spend that $$$ twice? I would pop the credit card and get some Johnson 2110r. Buy once and be done for a while. FYI, you may be able to reuse some of your valve train on the Brodie/TFS heads which will trim the cost some.

I'm running Johnson 2116LSR's but if you're running upwards of 500 lbs of spring pressure then 2126LSR's would be my choice. Both lifters have an advertised preload of .035 +/- 0.01

I just don't like depending on plastic trays to keep a lifter properly aligned even though LS engines have gone hundreds of thousands of miles on them. Just my .02

For $253.48, Summit has Morel 7717 lifters and lifter trays. Not too bad a deal.
