Default How long should it take to Port and Polish LS3 heads?

My shop removed my heads and sent them to Texas Speed & Performance back in early June. My shop originally told me TSP quoted him 2 weeks for the job. 2 weeks pass and TSP estimated another 2 weeks.. ..another 2 weeks pass then TSP estimated another week... ...Supposedly all the porting is done but they need to polish and reassemble. Does this sound unreasonably long? TSP has been in possession of my heads for over a month and there has been no movement. I need to get my car back in one piece asap.

Texas has been having major power issues because of the hurricane that went through there. Probably part of the problem. Call TSP and tell them your issue abd see if they can get it done.

TSP is in Austin area (Georgetown to be specific -- I live within 15 minutes from their shop) and we weren't affected by the Hurricane. Along with that, the hurricane was fairly recent (and largely missed us, it mostly went through Houston) and they have had my heads about 4 weeks up to that point. I called them but they told me 6 weeks so I am wondering if anyone has had the same luck with them? It just seems like 6 weeks is a long time to P&P heads.

Sounds like your shop should be the one putting the pressure on them.

Unfortunately it depends on the workload. I haved CNC ported heads turned around in 3 weeks to as long as 2 months. Never used TSP for that though

"Need" or "want"?
I bought a cam back in May and it took 5-6 weeks to have it ground and shipped to me. Some of this stuff just takes time due to workload and backlog.

It took them less than two weeks when they did my heads a few years ago. I bought an extra set of heads and intake manifold to send out for port work. I didn't take my LS3 apart until everything was there to complete the build. Got it all done in a long weekend. I know that doesn't help you now. Food for thought the next time around.
