Default Which "stroker" cam?

Looking at the following cams for a 408, port work LS3 heads, LS3 intake, long tubes, 4L80. Going in 66 Chevelle "weekend" street car.

Any recommendations and opinions are appreciated!

or

Most proven LS3 stroker cam is the 239/255 duration cam. It just flat out works at the track and puts down decent power numbers.

Go to google bar and search Tuskys Cookbook.

I've had multiple 408 combos.

If this is an efi car and you want it to drive well, I would go with something like the cam motion hot street or torquey stroker cam. It will drive very well, no surging, pull nice to 6500 and peak torque around 4500ish. Probably 470-490rwhp ish.

If you want to run a number I'd go bigger than what's listed here. Likely in the high 24x/26x 110 range. It would make peak torque around 5200-5500ish and should pull to 7500. Likely closer to 520 wheel HP unlocked.

For reference. I currently have a 408 with trickflow ls3 heads. Fast mid runners ported, 246/266 111 .700 llsr cam and 12 to 1 scr. Made 520 unlocked through slicks and and 9" rear. Probably around 670-700 crank. It does have some minor low speed idle surge, very minor, I wouldn't want to daily it but for a weekend car it's great.

Yeah this is just a fun weekend car. I'm not worried about about it daily driving it. It's my first car that I've had for almost 30 years. I daily drive it plenty when I was younger! Not looking for peak, max power. Most fast cars I've drove or been the passenger seems pretty tame and boring to me. I would like to take it up a notch, but not be an all out track car. BTR told me their 400+ stroker cam makes more torque down low than many of their smaller cams in a stroker. I keep leaning toward that cam.

What is your weight and compression ratio? Rear gear?

Have no idea of the weight. It a 66 Chevelle so 3400 I assume. I'm not even to the rear yet. Building engine, front suspension and brakes, trans, then rear. Probably 3.90's.

I'd probably look into something in the high 230s on the intake, low 250s on the exhaust with around a 112 or 113 lsa. 650ish lift and dual 700 springs. Tool steel retainers. I prefer cam motion and tick performance for cams myself. Should make great power from 3500 to 6500.

I’m going with the GPI ss416 cam. Similar specs to those mentioned. 242/258 .646/.637 113+4.

similar goals. Weekend cruiser/hot rod. Mine will be 416 at 12.0:1 comp, FED ported ls3 heads, holley hi ram in a 96 single cab. Roughly 4K lbs

Still didn't disclose the compression ratio. And what torque convertor stall? Exhaust size? Highest shift point?

The BTR 400+ looked smart to me.
