Weird oil problem…07 6.0ls Hey all!! New member here. Having some problems with this 07 6.0 non afm and vvt loosing oil pressure. It’s a fresh build. New cam bearings,mains,rods the whole works.pulled the engine after replacing oil pump with a melling high pressure pump. Still same issue.as the truck gets hot the Pressure goes down to nothin. The motor doesn’t sound like it’s lacking oil pressure,but I installed a manual gauge and does the same thing. Another weird thing is the oil pressure actually goes down as you give it throttle..I’ve changed pumps,oil sensor and oil filter still same thing..im at a loss. I’ve had many ls rebuilt in the past no issues. This one is a pita. This engine was in a running Silverado before being rebuilt and installed in this 07..
There are 2 different O-rings for the oil pickup tube and when I installed the truck o-ring, I had the same issues. I went back to advanced auto and got the correct O-ring for an f-body pickup tube.
Are you running a external oil cooler? If so then you would likely need the melling high pressure & high volume pump.

First when I experienced the problem it was with the stock new oil pump changed it out for a melling high pressure oil pump same issue. Used the green o ring it fit nice and snug. Could it be two bad oil pumps can’t be… if it’s been the dang o-ring this whole time
