Default 5.3 internals

If I take rods and pistons from one motor and put them on a different Crankshaft would I need to have the engine balanced? Engine has a 3stage cam

You have a balancing setup? If so, why not check it? Yea its a little involved setting it all up, but if you have the means, then do it. Or simply weight the old parts vs the new parts. 10 grams difference is acceptable.

You are not talking about weight matching, are you?

I do not have a balance setup I was just wondering if it’s really necessary to have it balanced. It has a 3stage cam in it and I don’t plan on doing anything extra at this time. Just trying to take all the good parts from two engines and make one. Lol I’m on a budget but if it’s something necessary then I’ll have to wait on get that done.

do you have the original rods and pistons that were on the crank you are wanting to put the other rods and pistons? If so, weigh them. They weigh close to the same, you are good. Btw, when I built my 5.3, I used H beam rods and forged pistons….my machinist said the weights were close enough I could have ran it without balancing.

I have the original rods and pistons from engine 1 but they are badly damaged real bad

Engine 1
. Engine 2 have good rods and piston bad crankshaft. All parts are OEM originals. I just wanted a second opinion on swapping without needing balancing
