Default L92 Build

Hi, I am looking for spec advice on an LS swap I am doing on my 91' Chevy S10. I have decided on going with the L92 aluminum block as it seemed more comparable than an iron block LQ4 to which I would have wanted to turboed. For a little context this would be my very first ever engine build, and I wanted to keep things as simple as possible. I have watched numerous videos on how to pull apart and put back together the LS platform but as far as learning how to properly choose what parts needed for my goals it's as clear as mud. I have no idea how to properly choose what kind of internals, heads or intake etc. I'm looking for around 500-550whp in a little street truck on 91 octane that can see the highway every so often. It'll be getting a T56 manual transmission as well as an upgraded and narrowed ford 8.8 in the rear to make better use of the new power. I am not planning on using VVT. I also would like to future proof the engines internals in case I wanted to go with any power adders in the future. If anyone has any advice or even a pre-specd list it would be greatly appreciated. I've also heard I can contact places such as Texas Speed directly to help me out, although I am still unsure how that works.

Just call them up and tell them your goals.

Summit has all the things you need too and are helpful.

They can recommend you a cam and their pro ls internals have some good reviews. My buddy is running them in his boosted vette and no issues yet

Hello and welcome,

First off, you are making a great choice with this first engine project. The stock L92 platform will meet and exceed your expectations in nearly stock form (all GM parts besides cam and springs, pushrods). A set of 823 heads, cam and springs from reputable source, pushrods and fresh head gaskets will be all thats needed. This assumes you already have an L92 LY6 or similar long/short block, which would be a big head start. Otherwise, I would try to source something more complete to get started. There is absolutely no reason to upgrade rotating assembling given the goals you described.

Start there, and you will be impressed with how far the platform will take you. It will be tremendous fun in front of that T56.

Default On the Cup, heads

Hi, your LS-92 heads are copies of the BEST NASCAR head design!
A wide L/C camshaft and LOTS of compression is best

Our 07 Escalade has the l92 and in stock form it's good for 400hp. Seems like it wouldn't take much to reach 500. It would be very fun in a little truck!
