what cams are you guys running on y’all’s 418 stroker engines??

Not a 416/418 but I run a custom cam in my 402 from Tony Mamo. Everyone knows he is great with heads but he is just as good at cams for a given combo.

I am not going to sit here and suggest any specific cam or even try and give you specs. I would contact the people that do this everyday. Nick at BTR, Martin Smallwood, Cam Motion has a few nice off the shelf grinds (As well as BTR, etc), Summit probably has a few grinds that would work well for your build... But don't under cam it. Need to take into account the engine size, compression ratio, etc. Both of these will eat up duration so putting for example a 23X/24X cam in the thing might be a bit small.

GPI or BTR are who I would call for a cam for an LS3 headed 418

Without knowing the rear gear ratio, auto or manual trans, car weight, converter stall (if applicable), and intended usage of the car, giving cam recommendations would be as accurate as recommending the winning lotto numbers. A LOT more info on everything is needed before anyone, even the experts, can recommend anything....

I believe this is true. I run a 239/247 in a 416 and its very mild acting. I can get it to idle at 700 rpm with a single plane intake and cruise at 1400 rpms in overdrive without it bucking or surging. Im stepping up atleast 7 more degrees on the intake and exhaust.

engine builder said i could use 823 heads, and it’s for a c6 corvette

It's going to need a 4000-4500 converter with the Hi Ram you want to run. The 238/256 113 cam I have will meet your goals with the rpm range and a 4000rpm converter. You would def want to run hollow stem int valves in the 823 heads, that would be cheap/easy power I wouldn't go nuts porting the heads, but doing some work to the exhaust and getting the bump out of the int port along with a good valve job will get the most out of them. If you want more, I would buy a completely different head.

Gotcha. Ill stick with the two cams i mentioned. The summit cam and btr cam. 230s duration will be solid on the street in a 418. 823 rectangle heads call for a good split between intake and exhaust so high 240s or above is good to allow the engine to breathe.
