Default L92 Engine Mild Upgrade

Hi all, I've taken delivery of my L92 engine (from a 2007 Escalade) so things can start progressing on the engine build. I bought the engine thinking (rightly or wrongly) that I could upgrade it to "LS3 spec" for less than buying an actual LS3.

So hopefully someone on this forum with more knowledge than me can help me out here. My list of differences (i.e things to upgrade/replace with stock LS3) are as follows
- Intake (thinking BTR Trinity with Motion Raceworks 102mm Cable Throttle)
- Valves (stock LS3)
- Cam (Texas Speed BFD + BTR .660" Springs)
- VVT Delete (Michigan Motorsports VVT Delete Kit)

I won't be running power steering so I'm thinking of getting the ICT Billet 551137-LS74-3 Low Mount A/C Bracket and ICT Billet 551667EWP-3 Low Mount Alternator Bracket. I'd then also get a Moroso 63566 Electric Water Pump as I've got my heart set on an electric water pump.

Is there anything I've missed that I should be adding to the list?

Default 2026 Escalade engine swep

I too have a 2008 Escalade AND I too want to swap a 2026 (used dyno time only) engine into My Escalade.
A mild "downgrade" is required.
I have a cam change in mind, you want the "take outs" ?

I've done a couple L92 LS swaps. No DOD L92's. Both were low mileage engines about 25K on each.
I went with a Texas Speed vvt delete. Texas Speed cam. 225I 230E .600? lift. Upgraded dual valve springs/retainers and push rods. Retained the stock L92 lifters non-DOD lifters.
Sourced a used LS3 intake, DBW throttle body and 42 lbs injectors.
Howell and Speartech ecm's/DBW throttle pedals and engine wiring harnesses. One from each. Both needed a proper tune after install.
Pic of my current 80 Camaro with a L92 swap. And my orange 73 Z28 with a L92 swap.

Thanks for the kind words.
The 73 went down the road a number of years ago to make way for other projects.
I still have the 80.
Great project that I bought about 4 years ago. Note the inserts on the coil covers I made.

Ah I'd not thought about injectors! A quick google reckons the stock L92 injectors are 30lbs. Are your 42lbs ones the stock LS3 injectors or did you go with aftermarket?

Those swaps are clean btw, love it!!!

As far as I know the stock LS3 Corvette fuel injectors are 42#. Truck L92 injectors may be 30#.. Others on here can chime in to confirm either way.
Just note on injectors. If you buy rebuilt injectors some are rebuilt using generic injectors from a unknown source. Per a couple of tuners I've used stock GM injectors are "graphed" (Not the correct word) so it's easier for the tuner to make adjustments. Again others can chine and see what they think.
Just a note my sales area included the UK for over 10 years. I really miss a freshly baked scone with clotted cream and strawberry jam! Also sweets and savories at afternoon tea. LOL.

Don’t forget to upgrade your fuel pump. At 32 gal/hr that stock pump cover the 30# injectors ok. You stepped up to 42# and a lot wilder cam. You need more pump.

On my earlier LS swaps with external fuel pumps I used Bosch 044 pumps. My latest LS6/L92 swaps with in-tank fuel pumps I use Walbro 255 pumps.
The LS6/L92 swaps at about 400 rwhp.
The 67 Nova swap I did with a LS2 sleeved and stoked to 427 cubes I used a Bosch 044 external pump. 495 rwhp. It worked great.

Yeh, already on my upgrade list. Deatschwerks do a drop in 340lph pump for my application (Miata NC) and apparently have a 420lph pump in the works, although that’s almost certainly overkill for my needs.

Hey Matt, On my G8 I'm swapping to the L77 injectors, still 42# but with 16 holes instead of 4.
My drop in pump is the Deatchwerks DW65c. At 60 psi its output is 114% of the injectors flow. Good for NA only. Would have to go to the 300c if I was thinking of a blower

Ah, thats’s good to know! The 340lph drop in pump for my application is the 300c, so that should be more than enough for what I need and then some.

How comes, is there any advantage to 16 holes over 4? Or are these just what were readily available?

The atomisation is better. They can handle E85. The finer spray means a more complete burn of the fuel. Better mileage cruising, more power WOT.
