LS valve lengths
I picked up a set of valves that were supposed to be for LS heads. NIB and were dirt cheap.
2.08/1.60 8mm stem LS round locks.
Problem is they are 5” long.
LS are 4.9” correct?
Were there any LS valves 5”
long?
Aftermarket ones might be available in any length, usually longer than stock, to accommodate different configurations. Longer ones are usually used to allow bigger springs which in turn are to allow more lift before coil bind. .100" long is pretty common in engine building in general.
If I would have had calipers with me I wouldn’t have spent the $100.
Maybe he just couldn’t figure out the correct keeper/retainer combo to work with his rockers?
I just know him from the drag strip. And incorrectly assumed he knew what he was talking about.
