Default Lifter Recommendation

I'm installing a cam in my 2005 C6 with LS2 and 243 Cathedral port heads.

Cam Specs are
Lift .617 / .623
Dur @ .050 231 / 239
Adv Dur 281 / 289
Lobe 114.0

Running BTR. 660 lift springs.

I want to pull the heads and have them gone through, and then install new lifters. I'm looking for a good, reliable lifter that will work with the seat pressure that the springs provide.

Stock Delphi LS7's will "work" with that combo, but the quality has gone straight down hill in the last decade. I run Johnson drop in lifters now. Expensive, but they work. I won't touch a Morel lifter(opinions vary on those). The Isky lifters are even better, they use Johnson bodies w/ their own recipe build. There is also the Johnson Hylift lifters(different than Johnson racing), but I have not tried a set.

Dave, you've mentioned a brand (Johnson Hylift) that I haven't heard of for years. I think they were, and may be still, made here in Michigan, IIRC. Didn't know they were still around.....

Stock Genuine GM LS7 lifters and NEW Genuine GM trays from WS6 Store. I think ordering from a legit supplier is the key here
I’m Running a similar cam in my 6.0 and also running the BTR dual 660s. Makes great power and has been a great setup this far

I have the Johnson Hylift direct shot pin oiling slow leak lifters in my C5 6.2.
I'm running PAC 1207x springs and the valve-train is very quiet.
Far quieter than when it had real GM LS7 lifters.

Morel 7717 if youre not trying to spend a ton, GM "caddy" lifters if youre looking to spend a little more

make sure you order them from a reliable source (not ebay, amazon)

OP,

Take a look at our SUM-HTLSKIT2 or SUM-HTLSKIT3 lifter and tray kits. Kit2 includes Delphi LS7 lifters, and Kit3 includes Morel 7717 drop-ins. We've run both of these with TFS-16208-16 dual springs with 480lbs. open pressure without issue.

I cant overemphasize this enough: If you are going to run lifter trays, drive right to the GM dealer and get GENUINE GM trays. They'll come in a GM sealed bag. They are the best trays available. Your choice of trays is just as important, maybe even more, than your choice of lifters. I'm running GM trays with Johnson 2110R lifters. Valvetrain is a quiet as you'll likely find with a .650"+ lift cam......

Great move on replacing your lifters with the cam swap. My go to for the budget builds is the:

Chevrolet Performance – Racing Hydraulic Roller Lifters (88958689) and new ACDelco GM Genuine Parts Engine Valve Lifter Guides 12595365.

I've had great luck with these lifters in high performance applications over the years. They have the GM bowties etched right in the centers of the bodies.

I second (third...) what others have said about using ONLY genuine GM lifter trays. I use tie-bar Morel 5206 lifters to avoid any tray worries with a higher lift cam wearing out the tray. I also like the larger diameter wheel on those lifters.

@Summitracing Does the SUM-HTLSKIT3 use Genuine GM Lifter Trays, or do you source them from an Aftermarket supplier?

Different supplier. We carry Chevrolet Performance, and many people like them.
