Exclamation Wanted: Pictures of LS7 heads or engine

If anyone has already posted these please link me to them. I thought a while back I had seen the LS7 with the valve cover off. Thanks

Three per cylinder. Two intake, one exhaust. Will improve flow drammatically, but GM apparently has problems keeping it together. The rocker geometry tends to break something topside after prolonged abuse.

Those little pushrods, or whatever they are, don't look too secure at all..

As long as the exhaust spring stays intact, the exhaust pushrod would be fine. These are gonna make some serious power! It's cool how GM sticks with the pushrods and makes them work well with good designing.

The engine will be a 2 valve head design, not a 3 valve.

if it is really only 6.4L then I don't think 3 valve is out of the question...

Why doesnt GM just break down and go to a DOHC V8 or even better V10. I mean ****, if ford can do it, anybody can! they might as well go back to a carburator. By the way...how much power is the LS7 supposed to put out?

Its not that GM can't do DOHC (let's see, LT5, Northstar, Aurora, Quad4, 3.4L V6, etc). Its that they already have a lot invested in the LS1 architecture and the fact that the 3V design can produce a claimed 10-15% more hp than 2V while keeping the same smaller, lighter, and generally less complex packaging that is such a big advantage of the pushrod design.

LS7 is rumored to be in the neighborhood of 500hp/500tq, which would make it the highest factory-rated hp engine that GM's ever used in a production car.

Wouldn't you rather see GM building a stout pushrod motor with this kind of factory hp, than a "high-tech" DOHC wheezer that needs a blower just to be viable on the street (cough, cough 4.6L)?

Dont forget probably the biggest factor in staying with a pushrod motor is that a DOHC motor simply will not fit under the hood of a vette. Sure they could put one hell of a cowl on, but as most of the vette buyers are older there probably looking to stick with a more refined-less flashy look. Just my two cents

Over the winter I had to have the timing belt replaced in my GM 3.4 DOHC. Pushrods for me thank you.

That picture is of a truck motor, but I suspect the LS7 will look similar...
