Default LS2 in F body

Once the ls2 blocks are available will there be much to it to drop one in our f bodies with a 4.00 stroke crank and have an aluminum 408? Will our pcm work? Besides the cam sensor is everything else the same? Will it be a common swap in the near future? I want a new motor in about two years and am trying to decide between an ls2 block and a resleeved ls1 block or just a stroked ls1 block. I think the best setup for me will be to stay away from a resleeved block, but I want more cubes than 383 and don't want to spend 6400 on a c5r?

I think a LS2 block with a stroker crank would be a good motor. It should fit good into an f-body and if you hook up you pcm right it should work fine with a good tune.

You could most likely rewire the knock sensors, map sensor, and cam sensor to work with the LS2. I believe a few of the sponsors are already working on some kind of retrofit system.

I doubt that you would be able to get anything bigger than 403 or 404 ci out of the aluminum block. If you were going to buy a bare block, there would really be no reason to bore it out. Just go with a 402ci. To get 408 you would have to bore .030 over and unless GM has changed something with the LS2 aluminum block, the sleeves wouldn't be good for any more than a little clean up.

Could you add a 4.125" stroke to the 4" bore for a 414ci or is that not good because the stroke is greater than the bore size?

I'm not sure if the crank size is possible because of clearence and what not, but if it was it would make TONS of torque.

If the crank size is able to fit into the LS2 it would make for a low revving high torque monster
