Default C&D. calls the new LS7 a 6.4lt.

got my C&D mag. in a couple of days ago, and just getting to reading it and it had an article about the GTO, and COLORADO special-edition vehicles.
they said the gto had the new ls7 that the new zo6 is going to have.
they said the ls7 is a 6.4lt. engine pushing 575-hp, and 500-lbft, and can rev to 7000 rpm.
and the colorado has a new 6.2lt. called L92 that is pushing 420-hp, and 420-lbft, and the L92 should find its way in the near future trucks.

They should put the L92 in the Silverado SS, as a two door two regular bed hehe. If it the curve of the LS2, it should haul some serious ***. And I have the mag, too. No engine pics

The Colordo sketch looks HIDEIOUS though

Read it more closely. Article says LS7 block. The real LS7 will be 7.0L via a longer stroke. Also, don't plan on the 3V heads. I think this all has been discussed pretty thoroughly here and over at CF, DC, etc.

Unless things have changed in the past 2 months, the LS7 will be a 3 valve head.

Z06 based ls7 will have 2 valve heads. they are basically productionized C5R heads with huge valves.

Mainstream displacement is 7.0L for the C6

i figured it would be a 7.0L, i know you cant beleve anything that C/D
says, GM probebly paid C/D to say that

According to consumer guide, a 2WD regular cab Colorado weighs 3100 lbs

With 420 hp, that should make one hell of a ride.

Lightning what? SRT-10 what?

I think the worlds fastest factory pickup is going back to GM soon

I see mid 12 second timeslips out of a factory truck in our near future.

I think I know what my next vehicle is going to be. I hope it doesn't cost as much as a corvette.

We all know C/D has trouble with numbers containing periods in the middle.(mostly ETs j/k) Anways I'm going with the 7.0 number. Maybe I'm just in denial but I would sure like to see that monster go into production. And on the truck thing I totally agree GM will hold that title again soon enough I'm sure.

Personally I think GM missed the boat by not offering a V8 in the Colorado right from the get go. I sure hope they do so in the future. I'd love to see a Z71 Colorado with 4.8/5.3 and a new GMC Cyclone ("C" instead of "S" for the Canyon reference) with AWD and LS2 Much more intriguing IMO than that SSR thing.

Of course I've said this same stuff what seems like a million times in the past. Maybe they're finally starting to listen to me...

I think a smaller, 4.2 liter V-8 long stroke V-8 will be fine. Or even something like a 4.6.

Boo. Go bigger.

420 is barely enough.

You can check out the www.corvetteforum.com and see PICs that show the Caddy Race CSV with a 7L version. THEY have pics showing the 7L stamped in the block.

That pretty much confirms a 7L version, but I too have heard of a smaller stroke offering, but no specifics on what vehicles it would be in. I did see an article about a 3 valve version of this motor for the Colorado pickup, supposedly a high end sport model.

There is no way in hell they are going to put the ls7 in the gto... it is getting the ls2, point blank.

No way it is going to have 575 because it has already been difficult by all the articles in the last several months to reach 500hp with something like the 6.4.... When it comes to corvettes, GM don't want customers to pay a gas guzzler tax plus the car must be able to be certified in all 50 states..especially the smog **** state of CA

Quick Reply: C&D. calls the new LS7 a 6.4lt.
