I have to say it is real. I base that entirely on the fact that if I were going to photo-chop a new vette I would have eliminated the completely gay body-colored headlights. Only an official GM picture would have kept those.

To be completely honest with you, I think it wouldn't be extremely difficult.

Given a picture of a C6 of that color, with those wheels, I think I could recreate that image with about 2 to 3 hours of work.

It's a very accurate representation of the final car. Especially given the camo'd spy pics shown on th gm insider news forum.

More info...

Edit:
I've gained some interest in determining if this is real or not... here's an analysis between the actual spy photo and the picture in quiestion.

http://img112.exs.cx/img112/3259/dig...s_analysis.jpg

Also, pay close attention to the area directly behind the front lip of the fender. The wheel is blacked out in some locations. (typical of a shopped set of wheels)

Another possiblity is that the black bumper skirt could extend around the front of the car and into the fender.

There are good arguements either way... regardless I'm not to impressed with the overall look of the car.

I could believe it is a photoshopped image, but not by anyone without very very good skill with it. If it is a chop, it was done by an expert.

Actually, if you look at the z06 concept pics over on http://www.gminsidenews.com, you will notice that the official cammo'ed concept has black headlights. But then again, who knows...Then general could change his mind a week before production. I think it will have the black lights, and I am pretty damned sure that is a photoshop. If you look at the reflections on the side and the hood you will notice...that the reflections on the passenger side have a more of a glossy and outlined texture, as the reflections on the hood are rather dull. I dont know if I am seeing things, but I am 99.9% sure its a photoshop, a good one, and a great rendering. But if its real someone can have mine when I buy it. hahah

They used titanium rods because with a 4" stroke spinning at 7k rpms thats a hell of a lot of inertia. The titanium rods are light and strong. They didn't use forged pistons because they are more prone to knocking on cold starts than cast. Gm is very nervous about knock issues based on their ls1 truck problems. But with an engine with titanium rods, forged crank, and 11:1 cr, your going to have to change the pistons to reduce your cr for boost And you already have a stout bottom end from GM. Not so good for you Nitros guy :-(

The picture you are looking at is 95% of the real c6 Z06. It will not have titanium rods, it will be a 6.4L engine, not a 7L-unfortantly!! I will it were..

Actually I agree that it won't be a 427....the data accompanying the pix calculates as a 428!

And with the apparent hysteria from GM about this pic and data being posted I suspect both it and the data is exactly correct. I imagine that the picture will appear in many magazines in their Feb dated issue (as long as that issue is not available prior to Jan 15th.)

I would not at all be surprised to see production numbers closer to 500 ft-lb - if not, I can imagine it either being heavily underrated or simply "detuned" in an effort to reduce load on drivetrain components. Either way, with only 500hp this engine would appear to have some serious potential with only minor upgrades (thinking even just cam, exhaust, tuning or something to that effect) - especially if the rumors are true on how well the LS7 heads flow.

This appears to be some pretty reliable information (except for the C5R block reference):
