GM is a big company so they wont pay the same for forgings, pistons, cranks etc for a mass produced engine.I still believe its gonna be around 12 to 15 out the door, with Ti rods probably not but u never can tell with GM
I just want the block,I have the stock crank and will order forged rods along with my LS6 heads and LSX/90 TB and I'll have a 387 and thats just fine by me and with a .005 over bore it'll be a perfect Pontiac engine size 389

I saw a show last week on Discovery or TLC where they went inside the plant and the reporter helped assemble one of these bad boys. They said that only 15 would be built per day. Do the math on a 5 day work week and that's about 3900 units. And GM says that they hope to make the Z06 15-20% of the vette production or around 5,000-6,000 cars. Looks like they are coming up short. If this thing does make it out as a crate motor then I'll bet it will cost every bit as much as it does to convert the LS1 into a 427. I've seen those price tags go over $20k which is what the LT5 was when GM was selling them.

I wouldn't get so bent out of shape about titanium rods and Ti pushrods. GM could just use 20% titanium or less in the make up of the connecting rods, though some precentage of Ti will improve the rods strength+cost effective; I certainly doubt 100% titanium parts in the LS7.

well i hope someone from GM is out there looking at what is being said. i know of a lot of people over here in the UK that would be VERY interested in putting one of these engines in their kit cars! and it would be stupid of them not to offer it as, just from the interst on here, they would sell bucket loads!
having said that, it may not be that "profitable" to do so, and does GM want loads of cars that cost less to build, but are kicking their new 75K cars rear end? leta hope the guys in charge of building the engine are put in charge of selling them
thanks Chris.

Even if these engines aren't mass produced, there's no reason their components can't be. So folks like SDPC can order up the parts and do their own hand assembly to make them more available. It still won't be cheap. But they might be able to undersell GM. I agree with others...you should estimate the price in comparison to other crate motors using the same quality components.

How about we make this fun and interesting...the old guessing game. For the 1 person who makes the correct guess, nearest the exact dollar amount, we will give away 1 FREE Bose Interface for the Corvette owners. If a Camaro/Firebird owner makes the correct guess, we will give them the same interface that allows anyone to connect either an Amp or Head Unit to their factory wiring harness. THIS IS A $90.00 item...let the fun begin.
Please post your guess here so I can more easily keep track:LS7 Crate Engine guess
