Reluctor wheels on the crankshafts are different, different tooth count. LS2 pcm system is different.

I have disassembled two LS2's and they have the same reluctor wheel as the LS1/LS6. Have you seen something different?

Do you know what tooth count reluctor they went to? Did they switch to a 36 minus one wheel?

I was told the tooth count is different. Did you count the teeth? LS2 is 60x.

2-11.05

Big correction: Am now told that the LS2 crankshaft is 100% interchangeable wtih the LS1/LS6 stuff, and that the LS7 will be 60X.

Hope that jibes with what you are seeing Nicky.

The LS2 is still using 24x wheel from a LS1. The next wheel is 60-2 or 58x. I think it will be introduced on the LS7 engine first but you never know if it will be pushed back.

The video posted of the LS7 engine being built has some pretty good shots of the crank. It certainly looks to have a 58x wheel on it. Doing the best I could counting/estimating off that blurry not so good pic it certainly looks like 58 teeth.

The video can be found in this thread for anyone who hasn't seen it yet.

I have had several of the new reluctor wheels here (60X-2) to look at, it is significantly thicker than the current 24X. I also was told (as mentioned by 427) that the new wheel would first be used on the LS7, BUT I have also heard mention of a mid-year change on the LS2 -- who knows!
I recently had a customer that purchased a complete LS2 production engine from me and his engine actually had the 60X-2 wheel, personally I think it was a freak accident! I have had numerous engines in our shop since and they all had the 24X wheel.
