Gen IV 396 Motor HI: I read in another post that the LS2 block can be bored .020 over max. Anyone built one yet 4.020 bore x 3.900 stroke. Do any sponsers or manufactures have pistons or complete kits for 4.020 bore/3.900 stroke. The 3.900 stroke might rev a little better than the 4.000 stroke 402. I just thougth it would be neat to build an old 69 Camaro or Chevelle with a modern all alum 396. There are plenty of 437 out there right?
Alot of the old "396" motors were 402 if I do recall. But, you are right, it would rev higher... but you would be eating up all teh bore of the block to get that. Probably better off just calling the thing a 396, rather than trying to get the #.
