LS7's New Threat
I know, I'm just hoping it's not 500+ hp stock. Gotta give Ford credit though for what they've already done. Could you imagine if GM would have come out with a 400+ hp supercharged camaro/firebird, Gm guys would have went nuts, but that's exactly what Ford did for the blue oval crowd. I'm still kinda surprised GM stepped up to the plate with the new Z06 and I'll take back everything I've ever said bad about GM if they greenlight the Blue Devil.
What are you guys talking about?
Is this a new Shelby Mushtang with SCed 4.6?
Or are you talking about the new Shelby V-10 Kinda SuperCar that was shown at SEMA this yr(not the one shown last year) and now looks a bit like the Cobra Daytona Coupe.
I suspect you are talking about a new Mushtang as I don't believe Ford has given Shelby the go-ahead to build the V10 car yet.
BTW, the Prototype No. 1 of the new Ford GT is in Shelby's shop here.

I think a couple of people are confused on the actual car i am talking about here. There is set to be two Shelby's coming out. Or atleast concepts anyway. There is the GR-1 which is what some of you are thinking and then there is the Shelby Mustang Cobra. The Shelby Mustang Cobra is gonna be running the same engine as the Ford GT. The Shelby Cobra is the replacement for the SVT Cobra. They are saying that there will be no SVT Cobra. So just to straighten this out, yes it is a Mustang, but no there was no mention of the cost yet. Just that its a live rear axle(no IRS), will weigh a little over 3520(fat pig), is a 550bhp 5.4 liter supercharged engine, and Fords target is the new ZO6 and the Viper, both specifically called out. If it has the same exact engine, i have heard that the Ford GT's are putting down 550 to the wheels, so i would expect the Shelby Cobra to probably put down atleast 500+rwhp. It looks like next year is gonna be a very interesting year for performance vehicles. Also saw the new M5, with a nice V10, i cant remember what the bhp was, but i think it was somewhere in the 400's.
Here is a link to a site with the particulars on the vehicle, and on the 2006 SVT Cobra, i didnt read it all so not sure what it says though. Here is also a pic of the Shelby Cobra.

Yeah, I was talking about a different car. I'll be really surprised if ford puts the same motor in the new shelby mustang that the put in their "Pace car for an entire company". You never know, I also never thought I'd see the day where the big 3 all offered cars with a 500 hp engine either. Hell dodge has a truck with 500 horse, I guess a 500+ horse mustang is more believable than that.
i realy like it. from the side it has aston martin front wings, tvr windscreen/roof and a GT 40 rear end. a mish mash of some of the best looking cars in the world IMO.
if they went a head with the V10 and made sure the thing could handle then the Ferarri 612 better watch out!
Chris.

Am I the only person that thinks that looks alot like a viper from that angle? Same swooping hood, doors seem to be positioned very similar.... Put that picture next to a picture of a viper, see any common features?

Not that i can afford any of those right now, and we are just talking about stock for stock, cars can always be made faster, and if the General doesnt step up with a car that can compete with the new cobra with in the same price range, i maybe a traitor. I love GM cars but not enough to pay 20-30k EXTRA for the same performance, just my .02

The blue devil was the name of a series of LS based 427s with a supercharger. The C5 Tigershark experimental vehicle that Jon Moss was showing off used it. The mags are saying that it may debut in the Z06s or as an option using a new name on a C6 in the near future. Last I heard it was north of 600HP.
I see this as a possibility with Dodges 600 HP Viper plans and especially Ford with their all out assault.
HP wars are great. the german cumpanies are really getting into it over here (uk).
just came across this as another possiable contender.

the one they had on the show rides looked different and actually got Shelby's blessing. He was even the first guy to drive it. Its an natually aspirated V10 that makes 550 hp. They claimed it woiuld be out in three years after the GT40 run is over. Estimated price was $99,999. then a few months later the ugly GR1 was concept. I thought it was down. Hell, Shelby helped design it and he signed the car.
