Those drivers are clueless. 05's are running low 13's and the 04's are running mid 13's with a decent driver.

I know I may seem a bit eager here, but I could very well see two very definate engine options here. Aside from the other options that I talked about, I can honestly see an LS7 Variant and most definately the LS2.

It would make sense for them to take on the GT-500 because there is obviously a Market for it. Ford is going to be producing it at a cost of around 38,000.00 for the coupe. That is 38K for 475 HP, 450 TQ from a DOHC 5.4 that has the GT heads, and a cast block. At 3800 lbs, Chevy could answer that car with an LS7 down rated and a little more cheaply produced in a Camaro that will weigh much less than that. I could see a 450 HP LS7 without all the drysump stuff. Hey they have the new facility to build specialty engines just like SVT, building LS7 for a Camaro would be no big deal.

FYI the dry sump does not produce more horse power..it is to prevent oil starvation in high G corners...and not really a added expense in a mass produced engine..you will see the LS 2 in the f body replacement but the LS 7 will not be offered in the car..it will remain exclusive to the Z06...the Wixom Preformance Build Center is used to produce the Supercharged Northstar engine that goes in the Caddy XLR V and the STS V a long with the LS 7 for the Z06..it is a brand new facility that is used for low production high performance engines...it will working at its maximum capicity to produce the Z06 and LS 7 crate motor and the Northstar motors.. put down your motor trend and car and driver magizines...they are filling you head with mush grasshopper...you are talking about a small market segment..you may be excited about it but it is obvious that GM is not...other wise you would have a current GM car in that market segment...( the sorry *** current GTO doesn't count the numbers aren't big enough) the 2 door sports coup is not somethng that GM is going to go hog wild about...they have been down that road before...something will happen but I do not think the the scale of things to come is any place close to what you are wishing for..

I have not seen any fast ones yet..but there might be one out there somewhere.. ..thoses cars are few and far between anyway..how many have you seen going down the road??..granted with the uninspiring styling they don't really grab your attention...they are almost invisible...if the one at the auto show had not been painted brite yellow I would have never seen it...a very dull car...if they are going to build it with dull styling at least they could have made it real fast to make up for the terrible looks.

I wish you and whitten could have been with the birmingham group while we talked to Scott. He had some very interesting information, not just on the camaro.

personally i don't particulary care if the camaro of firebird come back. i just want a front engine rear drive 2 door car from GM with 400+ hp and under 32k that has some styling too. using old names, chevelle or nova(maybe a kappa derivative), or banshee. If they woudl make a GTO similar to the styling of the orange concept car, that would fe sufficient

I agree just make it a V8 rwd 4 seat car. Who cares what the name is. The GTO name is killing one of GM's best looking, well built car in many years. The GTO was designed to be marketed against a 3 series BMW and other rwd imports not the Mustang.

idk about the camaro, but they are maing an "SS" which is going to take the place of the camaro in 2007, its supposed to be alot faster (probably about 13.0 to compete with the WRX STi and Evo VIII) come with a 396, get high 20's in gas mileage and weight around 2,900 lbs. should be some kick *** car. they are going retro on it to make it look like a 69' camaro as well

You're living in fantasy land. A 2900lb car with a 396 would sure as hell run faster than 13.0! What, did you just make that up?

That's nothing but BS. Those are "artist's concept" drawings and have nothing to do with GM or reality. What little substance there was in those articles is waaay out of date and based on the zeta platform, which THIS THREAD is saying was CANCELLED.

Take a step out of fantasy land.

w/e, but there wont be a camaro anytime soon, itll be the SS, maybe those sites and pics are out dated, but the info in my post before it isnt, idk bout the weight, but it said it was going to be a nice reduction from the 2002, which is 3,400 so it depends on what you say a "nice reduction" will be, and the 396 idk, but itll either be that, the LS2 or an LS7,

PS- they can have the 396 only put out 350HP, just cuz its a 396 doesnt mean it has to put out more then an LS1

If you are talking about the SS super sport concept car that was on the auto show tour a year ago that project is dead and is not going to happen..it was a show car only

Earth calling fantasy island dweller..the 04 Z06 weighed in a 3045 the new Z06 weighs in at 3130...where is this feather weight car going to come from. An NHRA Pro Stocker weight is 2250 just to give you some idea of what automobiles on the mainland weigh.
