Good Question! If so, what are you getting out of the set-up!

Seems to me like LG put 225s on their project C6...They did not post results. They went out of their way to advertise that the car made 460RWHP on stock heads with a big G%x cam, TAST manifold, LG LTs,... Then promised to post resuilts of the 225s...Not the car is for sale and is making 480 RWHP with the head in tact. I think they did not make as much power as expected (~20 RWHP). Either the stock LS2 heads are really good, or the 225s are overkill on the 6L.

ET Heads has a ported version which seems...from their specs...to be stronger. They posted 4.0 bore 240cc that seemed to be stronger than their LS6 and 5.3 heads.

Of course, flow comparisons between testers are nebulous.

I'm having AFRs put on my LS2/C6 tomorrow(Thurs) along with the Cheatr cam. I'll post the results soon as the car is finished.... Opps... Just realized you were looking for 225s..... Mine will be 205s

I don't know the details of the LG car, but it's my opinion that unless you're talking about a big compression (read: race gas), 7000+ RPM motor, the 205's are a better head for the application. The 6.0L really isn't that much bigger than the 5.7L.

Aren't most ported LS1/LS6 heads over 225CC??

Just wondering.

DEN- as I understand it, yes. But that's what makes the AFR 205's as impressive as they are... because they flow like a lot of 225-230cc heads, but do so with a smaller port... meaning that the air/fuel charge is at higher velocity, which results in a more complete cylinder fill. However, once motor (cylinder) size gets big, or RPMs get high, the bigger port offers less restriction and CAN (though not necessarily WILL) make more power.

I plan to go to a stroke kit in the future but want to improve the performance of the stock setup. I also live in Denver at high altitude. I'd like to run AFR 225s with a moderate cam. I know the 205s work well but want something I can use when I upgrade the bottom end.

I saw the C6 numbers, but they didn't post a dyno chart and can't tell if the low end was hurt by the larger heads.

I was hoping someone had already tried this.

Yeah Yeah Yeah this thread is uber dead but this is the exact question i have. I plan on doing a 402 soon but want to get some heads first. I have a stock bottem end LS2 w mods in my sig and want to do a 402 in the future. Will this head work well for the time being? If so what size CC should i get to be optimal in both. Big bore? Small bore?

I know the trick flows are great and all but i am just interested in the AFRs right now as id like to keep my stock rockers and i like the idea of the thick deck due to a large nitrous shot

Get the AFR 225 heads set up with the correct valvetrain for your application. Have no fear. I've got a project car with a set of small bore 225 heads on an LS1 and it's strong as hell. Cammed correctly. They aren't too big of a cross section for a stock LS2 engine...

Keep in mind the AFR's have that bronze valve-guide and will still need the roller rocker to help in most applications with the guide wear. Also, the TFS heads do have the thicker deck that you want. I also prefer the TFS heads over the AFR's.
