Default Stock Bottom End

I've been having trouble finding some info on the LS2 motor. Are the factory crank/rods/pistons forged in these motors? Being an aluminum block, what kind of boost and HP can they take vs. the lq9 truck motors? I know I'm asking in the wrong forum but are the crank/rods/pistons in the lq9 motors forged or cast?

no genIII or IV motor sans the ls7 has any forged goodies.

So what is the major difference between the LS2 and LS1 blocks?? It seems the heads are interchangeable, as well as a lot of other things. Ive read many threads on here as well as GMs powertrain sites and I cant find any conclusive info other than the displacement being larger and the waterpump is different.

beyond the obvious, there are no major diffences. should of been GenIII.5 instead of IV.

by obvious i mean provisions for DOD, various senor relocation, ect. check the threads by steve demirjian of R.E.D and nick and kris from SDPC as they've cover actual block differences

Thanks for the heads up, I just got through reading a few of Steves posts, awesome stuff......however after reading all that stuff on sleeves, dry, wet, GenIII, GenIV.......

.....makes me just wanna stick to my original Iron Block plans and forget about the weight advantage
