Went for a ride in the new LS7 beast...
one of my buddys brother in laws best friends dad works for GM and had a new z06 the other day. My buddy tells me to come over cause he knows im in to that stuff. The guy takes me for a ride starts off in 2nd gear from a dead stop and there was no bog at all, the thing felt like my car in 1st gear. we get to a stop light and he hits it in 1st from a dead stop and we were at 80 at the blink of an eye. It felt like the gravatron at the local carnival i was like plasterd in my seat. Just thought i would share my story.

Thanks for the info...I am envious. I can't wait to get one of those and do some track days on the road courses. Did you see the lap times in germany at the "ring". On stock tires it lapped faster than any production car except for gt2 porsche and was only 10 sec. off of that. A GTS viper was 28 seconds slower per lap than the Z06. A little tuning and it will be as fast on a road course as any production car in the world. ( infor on track times was in latest MT.)

I tried like hell
Pretty cool guy too.
Still remember getting gas on the last leg with the GM Perfomance crew... fired mine up and they were all like
I would love to go for a spin in one, and love to drive one..

Clarification: Carrera GT posted a ring time of about 10 sec faster. They are around 500k a copy. I am pretty sure a GT2 is a turbo 462hp rear drive only version of the 996 that I don't think you can get any longer. The GT2 ran about the same time at the new Z06. The rest of the standard laundry list of supercars, Lambos, Ferraris, vipers, etc all were 10-30 sec slower around the ring. The one I don't remember was the Mercedes SLR, but it was also slower than the Z06.

yup, I am in the ann arbor area and I seen them all the time as well. Its been atleat 9 months since I seen my first c6 zo6 test mule on the road. I forget with car mag is based in Ann Arbor, either Car & Driver or Motortrend, but an editor for one of those mags lives down the street from me and she always has new cars in her driveway.

I was lucky enough to meet up with the guy that had one on this year's Power Tour. All i could do was stare :O at the car for a longggggggg time. Yes, those rear tires are outta control wide! The car is just simply sweet as hell. Posted pics awhile back of my Power Tour pics. If interested, do a search for my 2005 Power Tour pics. They are in there. Very sweet cars indeed!
