Default LS2 402 Forged

I just saw the prices over at sdpc and I think I can afford it. I also just recently bought a new v6 camaro that I want to do a swap on. Know the questions...

How hard will it be to do the swap to the ls2 402, including a performance electric transmission, rear end and all the little things I forgetting such as computer and wiring harness? Is there I how-to site? I so wish I could do this? I also have an extra budget phamspeed kit that hopefully I can use with the ls2 402? I already have an ss and think it would be better for me to upgrade the v6 then to break apart the turboed ss.

help me out guys, thanks

In my opinion, you would be better selling the V6 Camaro and buying a LS1 camaro with engine damage. Much easier swap and less $$$. Either way though, it will be expensive as the price of the engine definately isnt the price of the job (fuel system, drivetrain etc.)

I really wanted an LS1, but at the time I couldn't have cared less about the fourth gen body. There was a sweet third gen '91 Formula down the street for which the owner was asking like $3,000.

Forget now what web site had the information, but it looked like the conversion alone, minus the engine, harness/sensors, and transmission was going to cost about $3,000. Mind you I'm talking about a third gen with a 305, not a fourth gen V6.

So, that's $3,000 burned. Might as well have been thrown into the flames. Then I would have to spend another $4,500 for a good complete pull off eBay. That would give me a stock third gen with a stock LS1 for $7,500 plus the cost of the car, making it about $10,000 very roughly.

I asked myself why not just buy a fourth gen for $10,000 and save the massive amount of work?

LS2s are drop-in replacements to the LS1. SDPC sells every little tiny thing you need to do the swap, mainly a timing chain cover (I think) and a knock sensor harness.

'Cause some of us prefer the 3rd gen Camaro style over the 4th gen, and in my case I didn't want to scrap my 3rd gen Formy.

I've got my forged LS2 402 in my 3rd gen Formula, and next year the 91 Camaro RS gets the pulled 2001 LS1 engine.

Long term, there's a 4th gen TransAm in the future as well.....
