Aluminum blocks aren't as weak as some are making them out to be. The first LS1 in the 8's was an Al turboed 346 making in excess of 1000rwhp. Do you plan to run this at the track a lot or just a use it as a street machine. The 408's are cheaper and are capable of making great power just like the lighter 402. It kinda boils down to what you want. I think the 402 will have no problem handling 800rwhp though.

At the time it went 9.23 I had a dual staged NX MAF kit spraying a 150 shot on each stage. Now I have a carb style set up going on it.
If you have a large intake and T/B set up I'd place the nozzle at either the 12 oclock or 6 oclock positions, stay away from mounting it horizontally(9 or 3 oclock) or you will probably have some serious issues with 1 of the banks running lean.

That cam is to small for a stroker motor, you won't realize nearly the power potential the motor has in it.

I have a ms3 cam and was wondering if this cam would be big enough, and get the hp im looking for if not what do you all recomend? This car will be a little bit of both street and strip, ive been talking to the girlfriend and we have decided i can do whatever i want with it so i dont care if the drivabilty isnt as good as most cause i want this as a drive to work (6 miles) and a weekend car. Running as good as times as most of you on the board is harder for me considering im sitting at a 3400ft with a da of right around 5000 and humidity high as the heat i will usually run a second to a second and half slower than most on the board comparrable to my cars performance stand point.
Jason if you read this let me know on a forged 402 and a forged 408. you have read what i wanted now make me a offer please sir and i will get the money.

I'm not familiar with the MS3 cam, what are the specs? My cam is a Comp Cams custom grind 244/248 .612/.615 on a 114 +4 LSA on the XER lobe.

The MS3 specs are 237/242, .603"/.609", 113 LSA but im thinking it might be kinda small and might hinder my goal. I dont know why i want this 500rwhp on motor but i guess im dyno racing, id like to be able to say yea i have 500 to the ground and you have 350 thats cool. I just like the sound of 500 but i like the sound of 500 being pushed by 250 of juice. Im going to need some good flowing heads so let me know whats the best on the market right now.

thanks i didnt know the position on the knozzle matter but I guess I was wrong.. I'm going to try my car this weekend at the track but all motor b/c it doesnt have a complete tune.. but it pulls really good top end I guess its b/c of the cam its a 240/247 639/647 @ 114 ls and 112icl... never seen any 408ci with this cam before but I took the advice of the engine builder and got hopefully it will help with n02..

Ive got my LS2 402 ordered from TSP. I am going with AFR 225s 72cc heads, and a 250/256 cam. I was told that there wasnt much point in going too far over .600 lift with the AFR 225s bc the air flow gets turbulent when you get into 640 range. We are going with .614 lift

That's probably a pretty good H/C package for these motors although I'm not sure I agree with the lift part. I think what actually happens when you get into big lift cams is that the higher you go in air flow with the heads they start backing up above what you've said .630 or .640 and the flow numbers start decreasing but I don't think it's because of turbulence.
