2Mph shy of 200? ATornado Vortex generator should get you over the double century mark!

This is classic...
"...Tornado fuel saver essentially creates a sideways mini-tornado moving through your vehicle’s intakes, causing better fuel atomization...."

Don't the Lingenfelter C-5's do 220mph with 650BHP? So thinking about the whole cubed/multiplication thing the C-6 ZO6 with better aerodynamics and less weight it should be able to pull 200mph. Maybe? I mean 505bhp should be able to break 200mph.

I read that the new z06 drag coefficient is 0.31, which I think is higher than the lingenfelter if it's a coupe.

GM is trying to keep the tree huggers and do gooders off their back with the top speed listed under 200 MPH..I beleive that the car could run 200 in stock form..it definately will with a few bolt ons..

Heck, I predict you could get 2mph with narrower tires and taped up body panels.

I remember a few years ago a thread on one of the Corvette forums punched all the formulas trying to calculate the hp needed for a C5 to break 200mph and the numbers that came up were somewhere in the range of 440-460rwhp. It was all rather involved and they only made some educated guessing on the drivetrain and wheel frictional drags (and hence the range of hp), since the Cd and frontal area are well enough known to calculate the aerodynamic drag fairly accurately.

Once in the 200mph range, the difference of 2mph ended up being around 15-20rwhp as well. So at 198mph, a good set of longtubes should be enough for 200mph. A cam and tune would just be icing on the cake.

Is it correct that the rev limiter is set for 7,000 rpm?

It has a 7K red line on the tach..I have not taken one up to the red line to see if the rev limiter would kick in...

Also the limiter can be set different for each gear like the C5

I believe you meant over 300mph, because the tornado is uber....its like an F5 in your manifold

What are you talking about? There's no such concept as "aerodynamically dead"--that is until you get to almost Mach 1.

If you're trying to say the car is unstable at that speed due to excessive lift, I'll buy that. (Which can be fixed with simple aero devices like vortex generators, speed tape, air dams, wings, etc...)

But the fact is, if you keep pouring on the power, it will keep accelerating. Even a Scion xB will go 200 with enough motor.

There at lots of F-body machines over 200mph.

tape the body panels and all the brake opening, probly not the hood scoop, lower it down to ground level and yur sailing past 200.

The fbody does not become aerodynamically dead at 170 mph. As a matter of fact aerodynamically dead is not a term that applies to anything anyway. Ask me how I know Also at high speeds the T/A does much better than the Camaro due to the better rear spoiler.

I personally seen 178 GPS in my heads/cam M6 WS6... Doesnt the WS6 bodied IROC cars go better than 200 on the super speedway straights?

Take this how you want...

Last year I had a guy in my drafting class who worked at the milford proving grounds. Said they had a C6 coupe go 191mph on the 4-mile oval track. Whether it was true or not, and why wouldnt GM say it could go 191 if it could I dont know. But if a C6 coupe can do that then theres no doubt a Z06 could do 200.

But besides what that guy told me, I'm sure the Z06 can go 200mph.

I remember reading that GM was going to make the C6 Z06 a 200mph car. The reason being, in Europe to be considered a Super Car 200mph must be had. Maybe, in the states they just list it at 198 (please the do gooder Ralph Nader types). To me 198 can be 200 very easly. Someone please try it out.
