Default Ls7

Does anyone have any information on the PCM and harness for the LS7? Are the oil tank and lines avaliable anywhere? I am using one for a swap into a 63 Split Window.

David,
Drop me an Email when you get a chance. I am over on the SW side of town, and am building a 65 convertible with a LS2 and a tube frame. We can probably put our heads together on some issues. I was going to use a LS7, but It appeared that it would be a while before the issues you bring up, and many others, would be resolved. I had a chance to buy a 0 mile LS2 drivetrain at the right price, so I decided to take that path.
I don't know if you remember me, but I was building a 59 on a SRIII chassis last year, and you came by my place in your C1.

Regards, John McGraw

Default Red 62

I am the person that did the Red 62 with a Newman chassi. I still have that car and dirve it on occasions. I am now working on a 63 and I am going to use the LS7. The engine is supose to have shipped yesterday.

You are correct there are going to be some issues but I believe I will be able to work them out. I was able to see an 06 Z06 at Henna yesterday. There are some system differences but solutions will be avaliable in next the few months.

You can reach me at 589-6042 if you like.

Good luck on your porject.

Default PCM and harness

The PCM for the LS7 is specific for this engine because of the crank fire used. The design is new and not compatable with previous PCMs. We are going to need a factory PCM and for now factory programing (none of the after market programers have the codes for this engine yet). The PCM are backordered from GM but should be avaliable from any dealer in the next few months.

The factory harness is avaliable from GM but as usual it has a lot of unneeded items. I believe a harness will be avaliable from some one like Speartech very soon.

What are you going to do for an oil tank? I wanted to use the stock unit from the Z06 because it is a tank and oil cooler in one but it is 23 inches tall and I do not have the space for it.

What are you planning for the exhaust? I have seen the stock exhaust headers and they are very good but the flange and initial exhaust pipe is going to be difficult to fabracate.

I'm in the same boat guys.. We have an LS7 being delivered now (crate #2) and we'll need to work through all these issues as well. We'll have to create an LS7 support group and work through it together Our install will be in a C5.
