The LS2 and LS7 blocks are nearly identical as far as the casting goes. The main differences are lack of drilled holes in the bosses for displacement on demand in the LS7 and steel main caps instead of powdered metal as on the LS2 and all earlier LS blocks. The standard LS2 main caps are more than adequate for most build ups however. The LS7 uses the same torque turn main cap fasteners as the LS2.
Darton has two sleeves we designed together for the LS2 block. The first is the LS2 large bore sleeve. This sleeve is designed for 4.125" bore and has sufficient wall thickness to go to 4.155" max. bore. The sleeve has a large flange diameter to provide a robust flange seating surface to prevent the sleeve from sinking. Sleeve material is the same high strength ductile iron as used in their top fuel - funny car sleeves.
The second sleeve is the one I use most often. This is the LS7 replacement sleeve available as a custom order sleeve only. I usually keep at least one set on hand. This sleeve is also designed for 4.125" bore but is thick enough to go all the way to 4.190" bore normally aspirated.
Both styles of sleeves have been made longer, for strokes up to 4.250".
Pricing is very competitive compared to the LS7 factory block. You end up with a stronger cylinder wall capable of going larger in bore size to boot.
These blocks need to be sleeved on CNC machines with flood coolant as I have always emphasized in the past. Brand new blocks must be stress relieved. This applies to any new casting whether you have it resleeved or not.

That's what I'm saying.
The MID sleeves will go slightly larger, 4.200" bore for 471 cubic inches. Darton is working on MID sleeves for the LS2 block but has 4.200" capable MID sleeves in stock for the LS1.
