You will see 4000 dollar shortblocks just like the present 402's with no core. All forged rotating assemblies will make it very reliable too. Just add the heads of your choice (et performance 11 degree) and you have 600rwhp N/A.

Part number is strictly internal to GM at this time. It is going thru the system --- should be available in the 60 to 90 day time frame. No pricing has been mentioned. Intutiton says the GM folks are waiting to review the competition at SEMA and PRI before we see any numbers!

My fingers are crossed and my tax return for next year is going towards a LS7 build up

I`m thinking of going with just the 427 shortblock also. Then build it up for my 01 WS6. Would be nice. I`m thinking of getting a set of ET Peformance heads right now for my 346. There heads flow really well for a great price!!

Is the LS7 block any more reenforced than the LS2 block? Other than the 4.125" bore what advantages does it offer over the LS2 block? I thought I remember reading a while ago that the LS7 block will be more similar to the C5R block. Will all the standard LSx parts and accessories bolt up to the LS7 block. I question how much tougher the LS7 block (if any) will be over the LS1, LS2, or C5R... I'm looking for something that will reliably handle 800-1000 rwhp for a turbo project. To the best of my knowledge all the alloy blocks have fell short of being reliable at these power levels to date (although the jury is still out on the LS2).

I'm planning on using the alloy World Products block when it hits the streets, but I have to admit I haven't given the LS7 block much thought until now.

Harlan was making 1K rwhp with his 'hawk and was using an LS6 block.

id bet its going to be alot more than the ls2 block.

LS2 crate motor is like 6k, the ls7 is 13k
just doesnt seem the individuals prices are going to line up.

Id also be interested to see how much the cranks are going to be, casue the crank is gorged right? so hell if you can get the block and crank, the rest is cake

Just use a DART engine for the turbo project, problem solved.

It's been 6 months since I asked last, when will GM release this LS7 block to the general public?

Since it has a part number and I've seen price listed here, I have to assume it should be hitting the streets very soon... if it hasn't already.
