LS2/LS7 reluctor picture

I know at least one other person was worried about having this reluctor gear on his LS2 ("new" ones have it). If you have ever seen a 24 tooth, then you will understand that they are immediately recognizable as being different.
Pull the rear cover or (if you need to swap anyway) the oil pan and it will show you if you have it or not.
I read some reference to GM using the 24 tooth reluctor on some early LS7 engines. If those wound up in crates, those would be some lucky owners.
Also, I wouldn't go by the crank position sensor connector color. Mine was black, but my knock sensors were in the side of the block and that isn't supposed to be the case for an '05. So it would appear that there are sum "mid-run" changes to the late-05/06 LS2/LS7 that cause some to have old&new parts.
Hopefully that helps someone out, via a future search or something.
There was some discussion in the last few weeks about crate engines with this reluctor gear that cannot be run with an LS1 computer & wiring harness, creating some obvious and expensive problems.

I've never seen an LS2 that didn't have the knock sensors on the side. Where do you think they should have been???
Hopefully that helps someone out, via a future search or something.
