are an ls1 and ls2 water pump the same?

for a gto.... looking to go electric but haven't seen an ls2 meziere yet. thanks.

coolant pumps

The pumps are not the same. The LS1 style pump has larger bearings and shaft. I don't know if the LS1 LS6 pump will work on a GTO however. Someone else may be able to answer that for you.

The same pump fits the 97-04 Vette, 98-02 F-body, and the 04-06 GTO.

The 05 Vette is different though.

i have the ls2 waterpump. my waterpump leaked twice, when i took it to get serviced i noticed it was a little different. turned out to be the ls2. the ls1 pump leaked twice

Did you pull the water pump pulley out some to get the belt alignment to work? I have an LS2 with camaro accessories on it, and I think I have it pulled out far enough. Someone mentioned doing this and tack welding the pulley to the shaft, but that doesn't seem necessary. ?
