Cam Suggestions/Help
Anyways right now I have plans to put on Stainless Works long tubes with their high flow cats (the LT's are heat coated as well). Custom 2 1/2" ture duals with a x-pipe, Borla XR-1 mufflers and 4" round polished Borla tips. I'm also doing a K&N cold air intake, B&M tranny cooler and a dyno tune. I'm thinking this should net me around 380RWHP (I hope).
Since I'm getting a dyno tune I've also decided I will go with a cam... which cam is always the question. I've done a lot of searching and I still can't decide which. I'm looking for a mild cam, that wont kill my gas milage. One that will give good power through the power band (1500-6500RPMS or so) and give me a nice power curve. I don't have to worry about a sniff test/emissions. I'm looking to get a solid 30-40RWHP out of the cam.
So at first I was looking at the TR224 Kit (224/224 563/563 114). It also comes with Comp Cams 26918 Valve Springs, Thunder Racing Stock Length Pushrods (7.400) and Titanium Retainers for less than $800 shipped. Though I'm not sure if this will give me a solid 30RWHP... should give a pretty nice power curve though?
Now another cam I was looking is the G2 G2 (224/224 580/580 114). This cam should give me 30-40RWHP with no problems IMO. I could go with the G2 G2 kit but that costs $1200, so I was wonder if these parts would work with it for $1015... Comp Cams 26918, Comp Cams titanium retainers, Comp Cams Chrome Moly pushrods. I'm also wondering if this cam will be really hard on the springs and if I would have to replace them often?
I also thought about getting a custom cam made from Ed at Flowtech Induction, though I don't know how much the kit will cost and it will take too long... I want to get this done by Fri of next week (Dec 9th).
