Awesome!

So you are going to run it off the stock LS1 PCM?

Any other tough obstacles you are going through in the LS7 conversion?

That's badass.

You've made outstnding progress! I'm lmost ready to think twice about changing my 58x reluctor too. What is you plan for the dry sump? I just got one of the OEM lines in the mail yesterday and plan to use just the fittings and make new hoses going to a Peterson Fluid Systems tank.

Tom is the man. Can't wait to get a cam and get that thing back together. It's going to be a beast.

Thanks guys. The reluctor swap wasn't that bad. We pulled the crank, removed the old wheel and heated up the new one in an oven and slid it over the crank while using the goodson alignment tool to verify it was placed exactly where it should be..

There's still some unknowns with using the LS1 PCM, and I'm sure we're not out of the woods yet with this - hopefully we'll be able to get her running and tuned though. We'll be running a stg2 cam so that should make tuning even more fun.. heh.

We plan on running the dry sump afterall. We have the tank and lines already and will most likely mount it where the batt was - with some modification of course. The PCM will most likely have to be moved over a bit as well I think. The stock lines will probably need to be modified for length. We hope to find out next week when we get back over to the garage. There's only two of us working on the project and we only get over there when we both have free time so it gets frustrating at times. We're both very anxious to get it done

It's been quite a learning experience to date, but certainly a fun project. Mark and I couldn't be where we're at with it though without the expertise of some of the forum members here, particularly Bill Reid's, John B's and Scott's helpful tips and recommendations.. Thanks again guys!

Good luck with the project. Were there any issues with fitting your Kooks 1 7/8" headers on the LS7 heads?

Just a quick fact, the LS1 reluctor wheel is also a counterweight and needs to be the right weight or your balance will be off, I recommend you get the rotating assy re-balanced or you will likely have a balance issue as your new wheel is not drilled like the one you replaced, notice the square holes, it may not be much but it could give you trouble, better safe than sorry.

I agree with Race-Prep It doesn't cost that much to rebalance your crank and there is enough weight difference in the reluctor wheels that it could cause some issues.

While the weight might be slightly different, I can't imagine it to be more than a few grams and since it's close to the centerline of crank and it does not reciprocate, I'm not sure I'd worry about it. But I think I'd weigh em to be sure. Just my 2 cents and as always YMMV. Jeff

Welp, until we get a hookup from someone inside GM, the project will be on hold indefinitely. We cannot get the bolts for the LS7 rods through our normal parts distributor. We even have the P/N for them, but GM isn't releasing the bolts for some reason.

these are the only parts holding up the entire project..

If anyone has a hookup at GM, please PM me - hint Katech

Thanks guys. I'd really like to go with some stronger ARP or Katech's, but I'd take the stockers right now just to get this project back on track again.. Hopefully Jason will come back with some good news too if he reads the post.

I appreciate everyones help and wish everyone a safe holiday!
