Default 2007 New engine info

Well, there is new 2007 info in the GM parts catalogs

For 07 the trucks get 7 (yes seven) new engines

Engines:
1 4.8L 290hp 290tq
4 5.3L 320hp 340tq (Tahoe Version)
1 6.0L 360hp 380tq VVT (rpo L76 NOT LQ4/9)
1 6.2L 403hp 417tq VVT (L92 Aluminum Escalade/Denali)

Blocks:
2 of the 5.3L's get iron blocks and 2 of the 5.3L's get aluminum blocks.

1/2 ton 6.0L's get aluminum blocks, 3/4 ton 6.0L's get iron blocks.

All 6.2L's are aluminum

Heads:
All 4.8 and 5.3's get LS6 head castings and standard (LS1) 2.00/1.55 valves.

The 6.0 and 6.2's get the new rectangle port heads and intakes. These are the low port LS7 style heads. VVT comes on both of these motors. They also have the offset intake rocker arms in a 1.7:1 ratio. (1.7 is an assumption because the # is different than the LS7 rockers)

L76/L92 heads are cheap (for now) $281.79 retail each bare!!! Part #12582714 at your local dealer.

Cams:
The VVT cam actuator is just an electronically variable cam gear, which is still chain driven.

All 4 engines get a new and different camshaft (IE 4.8's and 5.3's now each have a specific cam).

Summary:
It's a going to be great time to buy a GM truck soon.

What's the 6.0 rating? I'll be in the truck market in the next year or two.. and I'd love to pick up a nice one.

Are these the heads that can fit on a stock bore LS1? Also, will they outflow LS1/LS6 castings?

These are the LS6 castings, IE same bare head part #, only difference from 02-04 Z06 head is they don't have the light-weight valves.

They will fit.

They do have LS-7 style intake port. Your current LS-1,6 intakes will not work.

They will undoubtedly flow better.....look @ ET's 11 degree flow #'s

They head that is the same as the LS-6 without the sodium valves is the what is currently on all LS-2 400 HP motors with LS2 intake and 90 MM TB.

The new 6.2 truck head will be good.

New intake is an unknown.....truck/suv intakes typically built for low end torque and fall on there face > 5000 RPM.

Clarification is neccesary.

4.8 & 5.3 (small 3.78" bore)= LS6 Heads

6.0 & 6.2 (large 4.00+" bore)= Low port LS7 style heads

who is gonna make an intake for the L-92 heads so that they will work ontop of an 402 stroker or an L-92 block stroker and not fall on its face above 5000 rpms????????
That is what needs to be made asap. Will an ls7 intake work with the L-92 heads????

When is the 6.2L aluminum block going to be available for purchase? Do you happen to know what its going for? Will it work in my 2000 Camaro SS and if so, what's required? Will LS1 aftermarket internals work in/on the block? (crankshaft, connecting rods, pistons, lifters, oil pump, timing set, etc.)

GM doesn't like to include bare block part #'s in the dealership catalogs

I would bug SDPC, for some reason they get info I can't

Good luck, and if you get a block part #, please post it up so I can add it to my catalog!

about freakin time...its embarrasing the same 5.3L was the only choice for years in the 1/2 trucks/suv...terrible...

People want choices and are willing to pay for power...GM doesnt get it.

If the Camaro is built, the car will most likely get this 6.2 engine... It wont quite get the LS7 (as it cant have more power than the vette), but we know the power can match the vette. Its gonna need at least 450hp to compete w/ the new Shelby Stang.. Good info!
