SAM's 500" LS2 Project *Progress Pics*
Some information about the motor:
Bore - 4.2025" Outfitted with Custom Wiseco 26cc Dish Pistons
Stroke - 4.500" = 500 Cubic Inches
Connecting Rods - 6.800" Carrillo Billet A-Beam
Cam - Custom ground Comp Cams Hydraulic Roller
Heads - LS7 heads that have been cleaned up
Intake - Factory LS7 Intake
This is hosting ERL's Deck Plate and Sleeving they are offering to help allow us to reach the 500 cubic inch limit.
We are right at a 10.9:1 compression ratio and we are looking to make around 650 to 700 horsepower Naturally Aspirated on Pump Gas.
Now time for the Pictures:

I will be adding more pictures here shortly.
Also, the other motor in the background is our C5-R project motor. I will give more specs on that if you guys would like. We are aiming to make around 900 horsepower on motor with that setup. I will post a few pictures of that motor as well!
For other info on the school, just check out our website www.SAMracing.com or you can shoot me an email at Gray@SAMracing.com.

Test fitment will be coming soon as we will be preparing our Black Z28 to use at the car of choice. As for long tubes, that is up in the air. We might make them, but we are not too sure. I will give you a better update tomorrow after speaking with Judson, Pat, Casey, and Brandon!
Here is a "part" of our C5-R (Our Custom Beck Sheetmetal Intake)

As for the C5-R, we are running right at 16:1 compression. A very small chamber and tiny dome on the piston. We have a pretty radical cam that will be in the motor as well. It is in Excess of .920 lift on the intake side and .880 on the exhaust. Duration is 278/290 and a 114 LSA. We are getting ready to add the MSD belt driven distributor, MSD 7531 ignition box, and Big Stuff 3 to control the injectors. I will also keep you up to date as this motor comes together as well.

That will be one torquey SOB.What is the potential redline for the 500" motor with a 4.5" crank? That is one long throw.
What does a 4.5" crank weigh approx. in relation to a 4" crank? I'd love to know.

The Piston speed is going to be right at 5250 at 7,000 rpms.
Our C5-R has the same piston speed at 8,000 rpms.
We are going to keep it nice and safe and churn it around 6800 to 7000 rpms.
It should be alright with higher compression setups because of the 1/2 studs the motor incorporates with the motor. Definately will have to see how it does with babysteps. One at a time.
We are not running anything coated in our motors. Only thing coated is our clevite bearings that we are running in our C5-R motor mains. Other then that nothing at the moment is coated. I am positive you can coat what you would like from places like Polydyne, etc.
Sleeves are not coated, nothing is going to be coated, but if that changes I will definately update my post.
