Is there such thing as an open chamber ls2 or ls1 head? Reason being, I was trying to figure out a way to lower the compression of a new '05 GTO (without changing pistons), so I could run more boost on the stock internals. I know a thicker head gasket can lower it but I think that is only by 1/2 a point or so. Any help would be greatly appreciated... The car only has about 42 miles on it so after the break in period I was thinking of either adding a D1SC or a STS turbo kit, and another thing why doesn’t anyone run the Paxton SC???

If you are considering boost for the LS2 you could go with a set of port'd 72 cc LQ9 heads (LS2 are 62 or 64cc). That should help get the compression down.
Maybe look into working a deal with one of the vendor's that offer ported LQ9's to get a cor charge for the LS2 heads you currently have.
Now with the taller LQ9's you'll probably need a different set of push rods.

patriot can do any chamber size you want, from 59cc to 72cc in their LS6 style heads (ported LQ9s), and you could also go with a thicker gasket to help decrease it some more.

Well how much boost do you think a LS2 stock bottom end will take or how much power do you think it will take??? And still be dependable...

Some .060 headgaskets and some 72cc heads would get you in the 10:1 range. You could probably run 10psi on that and make good power and be reliable for a good while. I buddy of mine is running 9psi D1SC on a stock longblock 04 LS1 GTO and put down 500rwhp. Car drives like stock. 05 LS2 w/10psi and 10:1cr should be ok and put down around 550rwhp...just my 2 cents...
