Yeah, with the Warhawk WP block and tall deck you can go 454ci.

That 499" is the ERL block. S.A.M. is doing a pump gas build of one using the LS7 heads. I believe they have some pics. posted of the build.

Are people really "ripping head studs out of the block under high pressure" ??

I've heard of lifting the heads but I thought that was dues to cyl head flexing. I've never heard of pulling the threads on a block.

Stock LS1 aluminum block bored / stroked to 455ci for GTO package, done by MTI.

Here's their ad page: http://www.motorsporttech.com/print/...rochure01.html

And some background info from High Performance Pontiac: (Behind-the-scenes engine buildup, with components named)

There has been many issues with head studs on big HP FI/N2O LS engines... the common cure has been to install larger 1/2" to reduce the bolt stretching and reduce HG failures. Obviously machining for 1/2" studs isn't free and if not done properly, the studs can pull out. Even when this is done the big dogs are still passing water...

Either way, the World Products block and heads should take care of these problems as they have 6 bolts per cylinder rather than the standard 4 bolts per cylinder that all other LS engines have (including the ERL block/deck plate system).

Quick Reply: new alum. block can get 455 cu. in.
