Do they use the same chain?

I believe they are the same but the LS7 uses a different lower crank gear for the oil pump.

Correct. The cam sprocket and chain are the same part #. The crank sprocket is different.

I want to correct myself on this issue. The 2006 LS2 & LS7 cam sprockets are the same. The 04 & 05 sprocket is a different part number.
