Thanks guys,
Louis and I have been working on cams for this engine since we got the car. We still have some tuning to do but right now it idles at 1050 rpms easily and even at 7000rpms it has not really dropped off.
So we will try a couple more cams to move the power curve down a little.
I guess the main point about the headers is the fact that our 1 3/4" LG headers will carry over 625 rwhp (over 700 flywheel hp) on a 427 engine. So I don't think any smaller cu in LSx engine combo needs to worry about the headers being a restriction. Also with any header size change there is a compromise involved. A trade off of high rpm gains in exchange for a loss in lower rpm power. Also keep in mind that we are dealing with an exhaust port that still has a 1.6" valve and not really good flow. We worked on the exhaust port for this combo and tailored the cam to match the flow. A larger primary header would only reduce the exhaust velocity and hurt the low end.
For a drag only car, larger might be a good choice, but for a street driven or road race combo we like what we have. And so will the driver....me.
For the record, No cats, 93 octane gas, stock air intake, filter out. And the car also has 345 tires which are a larger, heavier tire so the rwhp is affected a little with them but the car does have a double disc Excedy clutch to handle the power.
As always, we don't give out cam specs, but I hope you still love us. The car also has some tuning left to do. Not for the idle but to clean up the A/F over the entire range.
Stay tuned.
Thanks
Lou Gigliotti

I guess it's ironic the car on the right has more power. Just tell me the race car is considerably lighter.

Congrats on the #s Lou. I know you've had some doubters about your #s, but you guys are providing proof behind your #s. You havent released cam specs (and we hate you for that

Keep up the great work! When you get tired of this setup, feel free to PM me as I'll gladly accept it for my car

Thanks guys,
I haven't even taken it off the dyno yet to drive it. But we are trying to work through a low rpm, part throttle quirk right now. I posted these results even though we are still working on this package but over at Z06vette.com we are getting grief for letting them in on the development before it is ready for them to plant their Gucci loafers on the gas and floor it.
We never said it was ready for prime time, but it was a milestone so we posted it up.
At least I know the guys over here like to see the R&D as it happens.
Thanks guys,
LG

Damn good work! I cant wait to get that g5x4 beast in my car. So from what I have been reading the 1 3/4 to a 3 inch collector would be the best street setup for my little 383 Ls1 with a 6speed? I mean if its enough for the Ls7 it should be for my build too.
