Default 2 Piece timing cover???

Anyone make one for the LS2???

I learned my lesson after 4 cam swaps in the LS6, I'm tired of moving the rack!

I know Nasty makes one for the C5 for a great price. Maybe ask him if he can do one for the C6. I think the cover is almost the same. Nasty Performance...try him.

Can't see it working for the LS2 because the cam sensor is intergrated in the cover itself.

Our production LS2 cover should be done in 4-5 weeks. We had our prototype done for some time now but just got our material in last week. Ill will see if i can find a picture of the prototype.

We are working on a new one as well it will be a cnc machined stock cast cover bolted together in the center just like our high quality LS1 covers. Using gaskets not silicone to seal. All gaskets and hardware are included.

I decided not to go with the 2 piece cover, on the LS2 they incorporated a plastic dampener between the 2 sprockets. You cannot get access to the crank sprocket with it on so it would be impossible to line up the timing mark, you cannot see it at all. I'm not sure why they did this. Also, the C6 cam swap is more difficult than the C5, in case anyone cares...

This is dissapointing
I just took my LS1 with dampener apart and I agree it is damn near impossible to get gear free unless you can cut the cover low enough to get damp bolts out.

Yes or not use the dampener. It does not look like we will be making one.

Because of dampener issue?

I was pretty disappointed to see it in there. My LS6 did not have one, and I love the concept of the 2 piece cover. I guess I could always align the crank before I removed the chain, but the risk is too great to me. I want to see the marks lined up after 2 full rotations.
The damener issue is 2-fold. 1) You cant see the timing mark and 2) you cannot even remove it with the oil pump still installed.
I was thinking about not reinstalling it, but I hadn't heard it done before and did not want to be the first. I doubt it would cause issues.

Couldn't you put an indexing mark on the crank that COULD be seen with the damper (a dampener would make it wet, a damper damps...) in place when you have the cover off to put the 2 piece on? I can't believe the damper completely blocks view of the crank. I'd think a scribe and some permanent machinists dye would do the trick...

The chain will not deflect towards the front enough to disengage the sprocket from the cam and you cannot move the cam sprocket down to disengage the chain from the sprocket.>> In order to install the chain you must engage the teeth and move it up onto the cam with damp off. Even worse, now you have to take the oil pump off to remove the dampener which was not the case with LS1.
Basically, NFW.

It completly does. Even with the whole cover off, you cannot see it, no way with half of one on.
I supposed you could index the crank snout in some way, but that would defeat the prupose since you would have to remove the rack to remove the pulley to see the snout.
Until a plan is developed, we are S.O.L.
