Default 402/LS2 Head and Cam Reccommendations

Long story short, I blew a hole in my block.

Im looking to get a 402 LS2 shortblock. Im looking for a good head & cam combo to get 550RWHP. Of course, looking for this to have a streetable cam if possible. Thanks in advance.

I would say a custom grind cam, talk to Ed Curtis, he knows this **** like no other! As for heads, go with some AFR 225's or something in that area, I have Dart 225's on mine, but they are burning oil and will be coming off shortly, hopefully for some AFR 225's. My cam is not that big, 236/244 .629/.629 114lsa, and with the Darts is made the numbers in my sig. 91 octane, 11.5:1+ A/F ratio with 21 degrees of timing.

Well for a 402 it's mild, it drives awesome though

I got the FAST 90/NW 90, and it works awesome, next step is sheetmetal intake, which is a tad more $$

Looking at doing the rotating assebly below myself. Add the L92 heads, a nice cam, and the sheet metal intake/TB deal that Mizfit is doing and you should be close. That is the direction I would go if I wasn't planning on a Kenne Bell.

This looks like a great option! $1550 for intake, NW 90mm TB, and fuel rails. Oh yea, plus it's made for the L92's which are sweet and affordable.

Just trying to plan ahead just incase I cant get these numbers. Then I can plan on some spray to get me there. I dont really want to spray, but would like to keep it NA if I can.

It wont be cheap. As said talk to Ed about the cam and even the heads. AFR 225's are the way to go IMO. FAST 90 intake/tb. That should get you close but I wouldn't count on it, 550RWHP NA is not easy to do.

I went with the SDPC 402 setup and could not be happier great service good prices,By the way this thing is an animal and a riot to drive you will love any 402 you get worth the coin mine idles good check my sig !

That being said, likely to run NA, there is many vendors doing 402 shortblocks. Texas speed, SLP, SDPC, etc. all are about $4000. I will just have to do some more research on the internals offered, my coins, and go from there. Damn, I still need heads, and FAST 90. I guess Im looking at about $7000. Makes me just want to rebuild my LS1 and spray it.

Any more suggestions?

The low end torque of the 402 is worth the money spent dude! My shortblock was more than $4k, but I upgraded parts here and there over the standard stuff. It's all worth it in the end...... so they say

I cant wait for my 402! I'm sure the tq will be great. If i can get 500rwtq in my car, it's going to be a beast!
