If you look at the pic of them side by side, it is pretty obvious the LS7's will flow more air. The ports are much larger.

No...the L92's are based off the LS7's but like 11 Bravo stated the LS7's have larger ports. Valves: L92-2.16/1.59 LS7-2.20/1.60 I think a ported set of L92's flowed ~350cfm @ .650" and a ported set of the LS7's flowed ~388cfm @ .650". Now for the $ I will be going w/ the L92's. But that's just me...

Good points mentioned above.
Don't forget to include the nominal bore size for each. The L92's will fit 4.060" bores and LS7 heads will fit 4.100" bores.

What's the smallest the L92s will fit? Thought you could use them on a 6.0?

Actually the L92 heads will fit a 4.00 bore / 6.0L motor (it's called the L76 for 07 trucks).

I figured I'ld clear that statement up a little.

Red face

One thing to note about the pistons for the L92, they have valve relief cuts where the LS2 piston's have a flat top.

So a set of L92 heads may call for fly cutting the stock LS2 pistons (or better yet a set of forge pistons with valve relief's), or Option 3... a set of L76 pistons (but they have a lower compression -vs- the LS2's flat tops).

The L76 is the 6.0L version of the L92 (same head smaller bore) and is currently in use for the 06 Holden Monaro's that were produced after Feb 06.

And yes I expect the Ls3 and LS8 designations will be used once a low profile manifold is attached to those motors. Probably L76 with low profile = LS3 and L92 with Low Profile manifold = LS8... but I could have recieved a bad batch of crack

I wonder if any of those L76 motors could end up in a late build 06 GTO...
Now that would make for an interesting collectors item... 1 of 20 accidents 06 GTO with L76/LS2 powerplant... yeah that would make for a nice collectors item

Silly thought for a super charged 6 Liter Drop in Motor for Fbodies and Goats

Use the L76 long block with a maggie (just port match the maggie to the L76/L92 heads).

That should fit under the hood and since the L76 is default at like 9.6:1 CR you could boost the crap out of it compared to a LS2 which is 10.9:1 or a L92 which should be around 10.5:1

I would have to assume the L92 has higher velocity. The ports are smaller and it is designed to work on smaller motors.
