ls7 rods and lsx pistons in a sbc?
Is it possible to use the ls7 connecting rods in a sbc build? The crank rod journal diameters are the same at about 2.10, and the piston pin diameters are about the same @ .925 per gm for the ls7. Are they too wide to fit on a sbc crank? the length of the rod is 6.067" per GM as well. With how cheap they are, there is no reason to pass up just looking at them for use in my next build. I would love to build an lsx engine, but I have a complete engine now that could use some better parts (crank, rods, pistons, cam) for more speed. This is all for my 72 nova, if it doesnt recieve an lsx transplant.

You would need to machine a few thousands off the big end width of the rods or widen the rod journal slightly on the crank cause their would not be enough side clearance for the rods...you could also use that reduction to help take care of the offset that is built into the lsx rods.

probably minimal, still worth the savings if running a high hp sbc, the ti rods would still be dirt cheap @ 120 a piece!! Too bad GM will probably realize that and up the price later.....

So What Would It Take To Put Ls7 Rods In A 283. Im Thinking The Sky Is The Limit For The Redline On My Little 283 Motor. OH AND WHERE CAN I GET A CUSTOM FORGED CRANK AND GET THESE RODS MACHINED AT? BALANCED AND ALL THAT STUFF
