That looks much better, it must have just been the angle of the picture before! Always a good thing to double check!

it's not that it was wrong, they just weren't rotated to perfectly line up. When one is a hair to the left and the other a hair to the right, they will line up when the crank is rotated to the exact TDC position.

Everything looks fine on that install.

Nice picks. Good you're taking your time on the install. Look forward to hearing about how strong it runs.

Well, I got it done today. I have a bug that I have to work out. I lost my oil pressure gage. The same thing is happening to it that happened to my water temp gage. It is tached. I know that the vehicle is operating in the right parameters as the scanner is giving me the readings. I have been told that this is usually a grounding issue. All I can think to check is the ground bolt in the back of the head that I put all of the grounds on one bolt. Anyway, back to this project.

As I stated before, the reassembly went in the opposite order as the disassembly and I am not posting pics of that until I got to the FAST.

The first thing that I did was put the stock ported TB next to the NW TB.

Next came the gutting of the stock TB. Make sure to get the o-ring on the IAC. I reinstalled the IAC and the TPS on the NW.

Here is the Mamofied FAST 90.

I read on another thread to put some RTV on the MAP Sensor.

I popped it in. Took the brake booster vaccum hose off the LS6 intake and put it on. Took the throttle cable bracket off the LS6 and the injectors and fuel rails popped them on the FAST and started bolting it down from the center and worked my way out. The back 4 (2 on each side) have to be in the intake when you slide it back in there. There isn't enough room to put them in while the intake is in the car. Then I bolted on the NW and it looked like this.

Then I put on the lid and the intake tube and it looked like this.

Then I started it after I buttoned up the remaining little things like adding coolant and hooking up the vaccuum lines. Will post some video if I can get the file uploaded.

On a 111 LSA

I was also considering this one from Patrick G:
243/251 .653/.660 110LSA +2

But I would have had to change my springs and I didn't want to get that far into it or have the added expense of the new springs when the heads are brand new and so are the springs.
That sounds kinda like my cam, not quite as much split though.

Don't take this the wrong way, but I'm glad I'm not the only one with 402 headaches... You're getting good advice and you know enough about your car now where you certainly won't be disappointed.

LOL. It must be the 98 curse. It's seems it's more a rite of passage than engine install. I can relate after some problems I had with mine. Recently my Racetronix fuel pump went so I now wait for the replacement to ship. Months ago I had to replace the trans and converter. I also need to swap the cam sensor. But I love it, I got the tune nearly dialed in and the car just kicks ***.

After I posted this stuff, Tony called to see how it was going and to see how I felt about it. I told him that I could definetely feel more responsiveness but that the acceleration felt about the same in the seat of the pants. He suggested that I bump my VE table up 5% right off the bat as I am running lean now that I have all of the extra air flow (cam was a wash as far as airflow goes) from the ported FAST (over the "out of the box" LS6 Intake) and the NW 90 TB (over the stock ported TB). I don't have a WB02 and used a friends to dial in my old setup and I literaly had just finished with the instal so had not really had the opportunity to dig in and do any scanning. I popped the laptop open and plugged in the 5% increase and took it to the local Friday night car meet that we have and let me just say that I can feel a big increase in torque on the low end (3500+) and alot of power come on in the 6000-6800 RPM range over my old setup and over my new setup prior to adding the fuel. I am very happy with it. Now I need to get a 12 bolt or 9 in rear with some 430 gears to really make this thing scream.

Just to note that it idles better with the new cam and has better (same idle at 100 rpm's lower(was 1050 now 950)) manners on the street w/o any tunning. Once I get the tune dialed in and the new rear and gears, this thing is gonna be like stock pulling away from a stop light/sign with the exception of the patches of rubber that will be chassing the 325 50R15 MT Drag Radials .

Man, If you do a search from my screen name to some of the other threads that I have started you will see that I have suffered (atleast) as much as anyone on here. I have enough pain for 3 402 transplants in my history.

Question about your cam. How is it that you have a 114 LSA cam w/ 2 degrees of advance ground in on a 110 ICL? Did you also degree it in an extra 2 degrees or was that a typo on the degrees ground in or is there something else that can be done that I am not aware of with a cam install?

Just curious

Yeah, I had an adjustable timing chain, and installed it 2 degrees advanced to increase my DCR.

Ahhh. Gotcha. I was a little confused (which is n't hard to do with my limited knowledge of cam timing).

Carlos...

Good job getting her back together. Your initial results are encouraging and it seems we are on track in achieving the goals you defined regarding the new cam and intake and combo in general. I think some additional time spent tuning on the street with a wide band (if you have one) and then ultimately hitting the chassis dyno for more tuning, especially WOT, will really bring this package together

Looking foward to the finished dyno results and driving impressions.

Regards,
Tony

What cam was in it before, with the LS6 Intake?

Did you make the hole bigger in the NW TB blade?
