Well its a heavy vehicle to begin with so the question is does 100lbs from the engine bay mean much to you (thats about what a stock Ls2 -vs- a Iron 6.0 saves you).
For simplicity I'ld suggest going with the Ironblock 408 as you will be able to use the stock knock sensors and wiring harness even with the L92 heads and manifold. Only have to fab up the throttle cable bracket for the Iron 408 and find an aftermarket 90mm TB (TPIS or Fast have them).
With the SSR LS2 you'ld have to tap the sides of the block so you could use your existing Knock Sensors, move the cam sensor and do a whole lot more (and it's still just a 364 where you have a built 408 ready).
Thats my $.02
