yea, i was just pointing out that they probably should have used N20 or perhaps nitrous rather than NOS. why stick to 1 manifacture of n20 when you have so many options for it?

Has been a great help besides the Engine he has done more than I paid for and has been there to ask question when needed for this install. Sometimes you know what to do, but just need to get that feeling that you are doing the right thing or check something that might not pop into you head. This not to say that any of the engine builders here do not do the same! I no for a fact that many do! This is just to give everyone the answers to the post that started this thread! I know that there are three more of these motor getting ready to do the same as I have done and I sure that there is more. Even the great ls7 427 is going to be built by Steve. For those of us needing to save a buck there is some where for us to buy a good motor and work man ship with out breaking the bank.
This came at time when I just blew up my ls6 motor and lost a job and had to move so cash was tight, the total cost was right at $7000.00 this is not bad for a ls2 408. I had some cost for switching to an ls2 plus some up grades that I wanted to do. The cost of the motor with shipping to Dallas was $5295.00 + 273.00 shipping and $300.00 the cam sensor and the knock sensor valley cover front cover, and allot more that I did not have to pay for. The rest of the cost I was adding in so you can see what the hole cost. Hope this clears up this post of what dose anyone know about these guys.

Well been busy tracking down bugs in the system. The code p0343 high volts on the cam sensor has given me some problems. I have tryed everything the service manual says but still there. Any of your really smart guys that might know what to check that I have missed please let me know. I have move the wire and followed the shope manual guide on how to fix this but it dose not want to go away. Other than that the cars is running great and still breaking it in so do not know about the power thing yet! I will find that out in time. Going to get it Dyno tuned as soon as I can figure the code thing out lol.
Will do video of the tune when that happens!

So any of you really smart guy out there let me know what I am missing!

Thanks!

That sounds like one of steves motors! That is steves company ls1 performance out of Chandler Az.

On the other hand i think that i got the code p0343 fixed! Found a vacuum leak that went to the Vacuum tank and fixed it plus one wire to the crank sensor. It is running really strong now and going to the Dyno soon and that should get it where i want it!

im about 2 weeks behind you. my car should be done and running by 9/23/06!!! im not doing the install myself, dont have the time, knowledge or tools, but got an awesome deal for install, tune, final assembly of the 403 $1400. my build is up around 11k right now. went with a ported fast 90 and ported LS2 Tb. so there was a some additional cost, along with a new clutch as well.

I recently received my motor from Steve. He's a nice guy but was not the easiest to deal with because it seems he sells more motors than he can handle. Total time from auction end to delivery was 3 months. That being said, I took the motor not yet completed because he had issues with the rocker clearances. When the motor arrived, the shop doing the install had no problem clearancing them. They did however discover that when turning the crank there was excessive resistance. Removing the timing cover revealed metal shavings where the chain was hitting the cover. I had to replace the timing set again and the cover had to be clearanced to fit the dual roller. Had this not been noticed, I suspect the motor could have been severely damaged from metal shavings or a broken chain. Anyway, the only thing affected was my wallet and after all is said and done, the motor runs very well with a very safe tune done before the motor was installed. It pulls very strongly and sounds awesome. Here are the specs:

LS2 408 (4.030 x 4.00)
Mahle -12cc pistons
Dart 225 milled .010 (61cc) with Patriot Gold dual springs
Harland Sharp 1.7 Roller rockers
Cometic .040 head gasket
ARP head and rod bolts
Engine Main girdle with ARP Bolts
Crower Custom Cam 238/246 .622/.609 112+4
I'm still using my old LS6 manifold and ported TB, LG Pro headers, and vararam.

I will get the final tuning done and have hp/tq numbers after the 96mm Professional Products intake and TB are available.

If asked whether I would buy from him again, i probably would not, but that is because my car is my daily driver and the 3 month wait was intolerable. The problems that arose at the end with the clearances are partially my fault because I was really impatient toward the end. I suspect he would have fixed the issues on his own before shipment. If you can wait 3-4 months for your motor, I don't hesitate to recommend Steve.
