Default New GMPP LSX Block

I just saw Muscle Car TV on Spike, and they mentioned a new LSX Block that GM is working on. I have also seen it mentioned in quite a few magazines in the last week or so. It is supposed to be only $2,000 and that is about all they will say about it.

Does anyone have any more info on this block? Could GM finally be giving us an affordable large bore LS block?

Matt

I saw something mentioned about it in Hot Rod magazine. Capable of handling over 2000 hp and right around $2000.

I'm a little amazed that there isn't any more info out there about this. I only hope the General has been listening to what we want for a change, cause an iron block aint it.

Did you see that on today's episode? It was just an LS2 crate engine, but they kept calling it a special carburated LS series motor or something like that.

The LS2 is going in that street nova what's his name is building. But if you listened close enough they are redoing the suspension and cage on the Back half nova they built last year. They will be removing the crate 572 and that's where they mentioned a 454 cid LSx based motor. GM is providing the motor and they are going to be racing the car in the NMRA events. That's when they let the cat out the bag. A 454 cid LSx based motor. Let the good times roll....

Yeah, I saw it in hot rod too. Was very interested in learning more. I was going to post it too.

Kind of odd no one knows about it.

I heard a bit about something similar to this that was in GM high tech performance. Let me grab the mag and ill post exactly what they said, if its not too long. This might be connected to what you guys are talking about. Its on page 10 of Aug06 issue. This is exactly as it is written.

"A little bird told us during a recent tour of a NHRA racer's shop, he spotted a set of "gargantuan" LS-style heads. When he asked the racer about them, the gentlemen stated, "I'm working on some LS8 program stuff for GM, and I got some preliminary castings." A huge LS-style block was also spied-it had a 4.300-inch bore and was set-up for 4.400-inch stroke, which would mean a massive 511 cubic-inch displacement! The racer stated he was playing with these parts to see what kind of power they would make, and said "This setup will make an easy 900hp."
A mention was made of this block becoming available through GMPP before long-and while that can't be verified, the racer stated "I don't get parts unless they're actually going to do something with them."

Doesnt sound exactly like what you guys are talking about. But could somehow be related. Either way, this would be kick ***. A 511 CI small block, no doubt though the cost would start very high, something like the C5R block.

Well if they got schizz like that planned I'm glad I haven't bot a motor yet.

4.3" bore thats getting to be old school ZL1 427ci territory they were 4.313" with a 3.365" stroke and a 1.681 rod ratio that's good stuff or you could go crazy and max out the stroke and get all kinds of inches.but to me the best thing is that the LS7 block will become "cheap" still cost some chedda though.

it's on page 29 of the september issue, "affordable LS engine parts." All about GM Performance parts. Says soon to hit the market, maybe by the time you read this issue, is the new LSX block that reportably will handle over 2,000 hp and will cost right around $2,000. No other details.

They also talk about an assembled L92 intake w/ 36lb injectors, fuel rail and a 90mm throttle body for $475. If it flows well seems like a bargain. That must have been what the guy from scoggins dickens was talking about. Part 12580123.
