Default C6 ZO6 vs 3LT Coupe

Is the Z really worth the extra $22+ grand? With GM pricing, I can pick up a fully load coupe for a little over $52, but the Z is well over that. This car will not be raced, will be kept stock (I am going to get the extended warranty). Just trying to decide what to do...

Yes and No.

If you are gonna purchase it to enjoy stock for the next 20+ years the Z will be worth a hell of a lot more than a non Z just because of the low production numbers.

I myself don't believe in buying a vehicle (new) to make money on. To long a wait. Buy the car to enjoy it. 20k will get you a boat load of mods to a standard C6!! It's your money, do with it what YOU want!!!

The Z06 is a totally different animal than the coupe. Stock for stock the performacne is hardly comoparable. If you are keeping it stock and the price of the Z06 fits your budget, then I would definitely go that route if I were in your situation.

If you want a beast on the street, then Z06. If you are not a racer, then save your money and enjoy the base car. Or, if you're like me and too f'ing tall to comfortably work the clutch (or just don't want to)...get the base in auto and spend $15K looking for 2/3 Z06 performance!!!!!!!!!

I've had a 550 horsepower Camaro--full suspension, stereo, interior, exterior, engine, etc--but am in medical school, will be going into residency soon, and just want a fast enjoyable care that I don't have to worry about fixing myself if something goes wrong. The last few summers with the mentioned car, I have bought parts all school year, and then installed them all in a couple of weeks and not got to enjoy the install part like I used to. That is not going to change. As a result, whatever I buy, is staying stock.

Good luck on trying to keep a car stock that just screams mod me. Id get the regular C6 while your in school and stuff then when you get out sell it and get a new c6 Z06 when you can enjoy it a little more.

its amazing to me that you will be able to afford a $1500 a month car payment while in medical school you must be crapping hundred dollar bills in the morning. just buy a C6 and enjoy it, it will handle better than the camaro, its lighter and looks better. sounds like you'll be driving in the slow lane getting passed by guys like me in the daily driver '88 jeep cherooke. from the reviews that i have read, the new Z06 isnt a commuter. once again the 2 cars arent even the same from the ground up, different frames, brakes, engine, tranny, body, everything is different about them that is why they are so much more.

If you got the money get the ZO6 remeber your Camaro had 550HP? it'll be bad to drop 150HP with a regular Vette. But hell no matter what it's still a Vette most people don't know the difference. But if you want ***** out performance with little to no wrench time get the ZO6. But eventually you'll prolly throw a cam or something at it. I just wish I could afford one.

I never used the power though, plus it weighed more between the body kit, wheels, suspension upgrades, stereo (a lot of weight there)--it wasn't the lightest car. I know what you are saying though. I would get a Z if they did not have such markups.

There are dealers out there that don't do the "fair market value" mark ups you just gotta find 'em. I know there (acording to a friend) is a dealer in Lakeland, FL that doesn't do that. I could swing a C6 but not a C6 ZO6 but then I got the baby so I need a backseat. Can't wait for the new Camaro.

My old man bought the silver car the same day I picked up my base Z51 1LT car. Dollar for dollar, you cant beat the Z. If you can swing the payments, there is just nothing like it. Brakes, weight, bodywork, engine, exhaust, 22k is more than justification to get it.
