Default ls7 valves in l92 head?

anyone know if its possible? i would think it would be, but had not seen it discussed.

it would be nice to have the cheaper l92 head, but with the larger lighter titanium valve for bigger bore and to rev it higher safely

You would have to have the valve seat enlarged obviously. Other than that, I don't see why it can't be done. The stem diameters and lengths will also need to be the same.

The reason the LS7 heads wont fit less than a 4.1 bore is becuase of the size of the valves...keep that in mind.

ya, I know. that is not a concern. I like the fact that the LS7 heads have bigger titanium valves, but the l92's are about half the price. I would think the l92s would be close to the performance if not equal to if you put the ls7 valves in them.

just a thought which I hadn't heard discussed before

LS7 valves are 2.20" dia. and longer than the L92 2.16" valves. The length makes swapping them an issue with non adjustable rockers. However, the .040" diameter difference only makes for a .020" clearance change vs. the bore wall. If you lift the valve enough, you may run into issues, but that would have to be a pretty fair amount. Although it'll be close and not optimal, a 2.20" valve will fit, but the length of the LS7 valves will keep you from using them.

The valve stems can be easily turned down to the proper length, then a new lock groove can be machined also.

The LS7 Ti intake valve is 5.130" long (just measured one).

L92 valves are 4.870 long. Tip length is about .250 for LS7, and .180 for L92.

That's good information that seems to be based on first hand experience. With a name like LSX Wizard, you must be "in the know".

You could also have a machine shop turn the valves down to 2.16" when you're shortening them.
